Start by looking under FILE, PRINT AREA, SET PRINT AREA

  • Anonymous Oct 21, 2008

    Dear Shailajam,
I will try to copy my actions as I do the requested task.
I have opened the spreadsheet that I want to print only the selected data from.
I left click and hold to drag and highlight the area that I want to print.
I select "FILE" from the upper row of menu items.
I select "PRINT AREA" from the drop down list
I select "SET PRINT AREA" from a choice of two from a list of options.
A very slightly visible dashed boarder appears around the selection of the click and draged area that I want to print.
To change the selection I can go to edit at the top of the menu of the spread sheet and select "UNDO SET PRINT AREA" from the options presented in a drop down list.

THE TRICK is to select what you want to print BEFORE you go to File, Print area, Set print area.

You can select what you want to print by "Click and Drag" for an area or "Select" a cell and then "Shift+Select" for a range of cells or "Select and "Cntrl+Select" for random cells.

    Happy to be of assistance.
Please evaluate my assistance even if bad, I can learn from any evaluation.

Click landscape in print dialog box but only turns portrait sideways

Landscape is Portrait sideways :>D

Normally you have to tell the program (Quickbooks) to print Landscape and then you tell the Printer in Properties to print Landscape.

I just had the same in Publisher to a Canon MFP MG1720.

From the QuickBooks File menu, select Printer Setup. Click the Form Name drop-down and choose Report. Click the Options button next to the Printer name field to open your printer properties window. Go to the Finishing tab and in the Orientation section, select Portrait or Landscape.

Save QuickBooks Desktop PDF in legal size, landscape, or ...

Why does Xerox 7335 truncates output from Oracle PDF?

It may not be the printer and I did some research on Oracle and this seems to be a common issue.
I pulled this information off an Oracle knowledgebase it may not resolve your issue and there is more info on the following site if you want to investigate further:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/bi.1111/b32121/pbr_uxprt009.htm#RSPUB75727
NOTE:
If you're printing to the Xerox MFD with a PS (postscript printer driver) you could try installing and printing using the Xerox PCL driver for your computers operating system. If you printing reports from a mainframe this may be an issue at the mainframe level in which case I would engage your companies IT department for assistance.
Any one of a number of possible causes may account for the truncation of fields.
  • Check the field and determine if it is allowed to expand.
    1. In Oracle Reports Builder, double-click the field in the Paper Design or Paper Layout view to display the Property Inspector.
    2. Find the Horizontal Elasticity property.
    3. If it is set to Fixed, you should change it to Variable or Expand.
    4. Run the report to the printer.
    5. If it still truncates, it could be that the field requires multiple lines.
    6. Return to the Property Inspector for the field and check its Vertical Elasticity.
    7. If it is set to Fixed, you should change it to Variable or Expand.
    8. Run the report to the printer again.
  • If the right most fields on the page are always the ones truncating, it could be an issue with the printable area of the printer. If you are using a PCL printer, then you will have to estimate the size of the printable area and resize your margins accordingly:
    1. Open the report in Oracle Reports Builder.
    2. Go to the Paper Layout view.
    3. Click the Margin tool on the top tool bar. A thick black line appears indicating where the body of your report ends and the margin begins.
    4. Click and drag the black line to the left approximately 0.5 inches.
    5. Save and run the report to the printer again.
    6. If necessary, repeat steps 4 and 5 to determine approximately where the printable area boundary is located and then ensure that your report body fits within that area.
  • If you are using a PostScript printer, you can get the printable area boundary to appear in the Paper Layout view as follows:
    1. Open the report in Oracle Reports Builder.
    2. Choose File > Page Setup.
    3. Verify that the margins are small and that the orientation is correct.
    4. Click OK. The Paper Layout view should now be able to read the boundary.
    5. Go to the Paper Layout view.
    6. Click the Margin tool on the top tool bar. A thick black line appears indicating where the body of your report ends and the margin begins. A black hashed line also appears indicating the boundary of the printable area.
    7. Ensure that the thick black line is inside of the black hashed line. If it is not, click and drag the black line inside the printable area.
    8. Click the Margin tool to leave margin mode.
    9. If necessary, reposition your fields to fit within the new body boundaries.
    10. Save and run the report to the printer.
  • For PCL, if it is still truncating, try using a fixed space font instead of a proportional font. Sometimes PCL printers have problems interpreting proportional space fonts and it leads to truncation. You should try using a fixed space font, such as Courier, and possibly font aliasing.

    Note:
Default layouts are built against a generic printer. Each printer has its own printable area. As a result, you may have to reset the report to fit the printer. Ideally, if you know the various printers you will be using, you can design the report from the start to fit the printer with the smallest printable area.

How to print database in vb

To Print a Database you would require to create a Report. There were many ways of creating reports in Visual Basic 6.0. Hereby I am giving you an example of Data Report.
Printing a Data Report
Printing a data report can be accomplished in one of two ways. The user can click the Print button that appears on the data report in Print Preview mode (using the Show method), or you can programmatically enable printing using the PrintReport method. If an error occurs during printing, trap it in the Error event.
Choosing to Display a Print Dialog Box
When printing a report programmatically, you have two choices: to print by displaying the Print dialog box, or by printing without displaying the dialog box.
To display the Print dialog box
  1. Add a CommandButton to a Form.
  2. In the button's Click event, place the following code.
DataReport1.PrintReport True The Print dialog box allows the user to select a printer, print to file, select a range of pages to print, and specify the number of copies to print.
Note Printers must be installed on the computer in order to present a choice of printers.

Printing Without a Dialog Box
In some cases, you may wish to print the report without user intervention. The PrintReport method also gives you the option of selecting a range of pages to print, either all, or a specified range.
To print without displaying the dialog box
  1. Add a CommandButton to a Form.
  2. In the button's Click event, place the following code:
DataReport1.PrintReport False
Or, to specify a range of pages to print, use the code below:
DataReport1.PrintReport False, rptRangeFromTo, 1, 2

Trouble inserting a different picture for each record. Want to link to file on another drive, and want the pictures to show up in a report.

A bound object is an object displayed within a field of a record in a table. Access can display the object in a form or print it on a report. A Bound object is bound to an OLE object data type field in a table. If you use a bound object in a form, you can add and edit pictures record by record.
An Unbound object is not stored in a table, it is placed on the form or report. An Unbound object control is the equivalent of a label control. To display the object for each record, you must place that field in the Details section of the form or report. Does this help?
