How change picture setting without remote

Hello
Unforcuately Sharp ahs not provided a MENU button on the front panel of your TV. Therefore you can't adjust its picture control. Contact the nearest Sharp authorised serive center, gove them the model number of your TV, and try to get an orginal one. Insist on orginal, not a universal remote. OK.

Are you using a remote from a cable issued cablebox or the orginal remote? I noticed my cable company DVR remote stopped working when the OPC setting on the Picture menu of the TV was set to the 'ON' position. Once turned to the 'OFF' position it stopped the OPC feature from activating which seemed to interfere with the response of the remote for some reason.

Rca tv

Sounds like your high voltage section, or your main power supply is shot. DO NOT OPEN THE BACK OF YOUR TV.

The chassis of the TV ( any metal inside the plastic outer shell ) is Electrically HOT ! The High voltage section has upwards of 30,000 ( thirty thousand ) volts running to the picture tube...so DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING.

THe Humming noise is the TV Drawing a lot of current and trying to work. Don't continue to let it try or it will be an even more expensive fix....pull the plug !!

WHAT YOU SAW:
  • "The picture could condense to very thin and then go back to orginal size"......this means that the vertical high voltage section was collapsing (the high voltage for this part of the picture has failed ) and coming back ( normal picture )........this means that some part in the HV section was on its last legs. Now it has no legs.
Best thing you could do is take it to a shop. I have a 32" JVC of the same era and love it. It has given me no problems at all, and even though the price of a new "Tube" TV is extremely low, the picture quality isnt anywhere near as good as your old JVC. Personally, I would at least get an estimate to repair. Good luck....Rob
