What cable do I need to hook up Video camera to pc?

My video camera is a JVC
Compact VHS camcorder
DC Input: 11V

I don't know what information you'll need but that's what I know about the video camera!

The computer is a newer Dell, with Windows Vista.

I would like to download a video from this camcorder and burn it to a video cd is there any software or cable that I can purchase that will alow me to do this? The only outputs on this camcorder is to hook it up to a TV to playback your videos on TV.

Try Firewire Cable ....but check that your Camcorder as well as the PC has the port ..... If not then check S-Video Cable

Need to know what Cassette for this model jvc gr-sxm245

You can use VHS-C (C for compact) or S-VHS-C cassettes. The S-VHS-C is Super-VHS, for better quality recordings, but there isn't that much in it compared to digital. I'm assuming your camera has the S-VHS capability, as the title, otherwise stick to VHS-C.

Connect old camcorder to new PC

JVC has the support page for the GR-SXM260U here: http://support.jvc.com/consumer/product.jsp?modelId=MODL027120&pathId=25&page=3&archive=true. This camcorder can be connected to a TV with the S-video connection (JVC recommends their YTU94146A S-Video cable) or two RCA connections. If you use an RCA composite cable, you use only one of the two audio connections (white) and the yellow video cable.

To connect this camcorder to a computer, you need a USB video capture device and some type of video capture software. Here are two examples: https://www.amazon.com/Diamond-Multimedia-VC500-Video-Capture/dp/B001FAE8MA and https://www.amazon.com/ION-Analog-Digital-Converter-Composite/dp/B002MT7JFQ .

I hope this helps.

BURN HOME VIDEO TO DVD

Assuming that your camera is not equipped to interface directly with your PC, here are the steps to take to get your videos from VHS to DVD:

- Purchase a video capture device.
A cursory websearch garnered once for $50.00 here:
ADS Tech Video Xpress
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1902901,00.asp

- After setting the device up, use the bundled software to convert the video file into DVD format and then burn to disc, using your favorite burnig software. Be sure that it is burning in the VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS format and not just copying the .avi to the DVD.

If you would like for me to elaborate on anyt of these instructions, please don't hesitate to contact me directly at [email protected]. Good luck and, again, let me know if there's anything else I can do. I think you'll be just fine though as this process is fairly straightforward...just time-consuming.

Digital camcorder to convert VHS tape to PC for DVD burn

You can't with what you've got I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but in order to play tapes in a vcr and run them through a digital camcorder for output to a computer, the camcorder must have s-video or av inputs. Your camera only has s-video or av outputs, used for sending from the camera to the vcr or tv. Also, some cameras have the inputs but don't support analog to digital pass-through (which is what you are describing). With these cameras you input from the vcr and record it to the tape in the camera, and then output it to the computer. Without the inputs, you can't do either one.
