Epson stylus pro 4800 running imageprint

Printer 14 months old, using imageprint 7 as RIP supplemented with a print thru application, recently switched from G4 mac tower(tiger) to new imac 24"(leopard), using adobe CS3. Was using firewire connect but this didn't work with new computer, switched to usb hook up, which works. started having color problems, missing, irregular tone. Did nozzle checks, auto cleans every time nozzle checks were different. Did power clean nozzle check read perfect after, sent a job to printer thru the PTA and got a complete black page. tried again, got demo printed on the next two jobs. HELP!!!!!

SOURCE: Cannot print from my Intel based MAcBook Pro on my Epson Stylus Photo R1800

mac book pro has a usb cable right? you can actually use it to connect to the r2400 and then dont use a guten driver use the downloadable driver for r2400 for leopard instead

Macintosh OS X 10.5 drivers for your product are available for download from the Epson support site.

1. Go to the Epson support website (www.epson.com/support).

2. Select your product model and download the driver for OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system.

Note: Be sure to select the appropriate driver compatible with your system: PowerPC or Intel Intel based.

SOURCE: Dark prints when printing from my Imac using Leopard

What worked for me was to pre-set the Epson Stylus Photo (in my case SP R1800) as the DEFAULT PRINTER before (very important BEFORE) launching Photoshop.
Following is a quick summary of key steps. It is assumed that you are familiar with a CS3 workflow. It is not a step-by-step guide for users new to this. All this is really adding is the tip I read in another forum (thanks to whomever it was) to set your photo printer as the default before launching Photoshop.

Before I did this, I had all sorts of problems that I had to fix with letting the Printer Manage, and making Levels or Brightness compensations in Adjustment Layers.

MacBook Pro (early 08, 2.6GHz, 4GB; Leopard; Cinema Display (calibrated and as dark as possible); CS3. Epson Ultra Premium Luster, and Epson Double-sided Matte.
Workflow: Calibrate the display; Install and update all the Epson Drivers; Select SP as Default Printer in Print and Fax System Prefs; Convert or assign Adobe RGB as Working Space and Image Profile; Choose SP in Page setup and the right paper size. In Color Settings Dialog under CS3 File Menu, choose North American PrePress; in the Print Dialog in CS3, Allow Photoshop to manage color (popup), and choose the Printer+Paper profile combo under the popup.
Then when you do Print, make sure all your paper settings are correct and Color management is set to off.
Now I can also nail prints out of Pages and Preview (but need to set color management to ColorSync in the Print Dialog).
No guarantee this will work for you. But it did for me, providing I was doing EVERYTHING ELSE by the book. You may want to cut up larger sheets of expensive paper to use as test prints first. Just make sure they will pass through the printer (don't cut too small, and make sure they are rectilinear). Choose a standard paper size that is slightly smaller than what you have cut. The check "scale to fit media. Should work

SOURCE: Epson Stylus Photo R800 Print Head Nozzles ??

Don't use nozzles clean function, besides ink consuming it can cause damages that cannot be fixed: black lines on the back side of the page that will be permanent. Instead put two photo paper together (2x260 gr) and push the two papers together into the printer while printing a motive including many colors. Do so a couple of times and the clogg usually disappears. Good luck! jonk

Epson Stylus Pro 4800 printing problem

Communication error typically means that your printer and computer aren't talking. Assuming you're using a USB cable, try a replacement cable, in another socket on the computer.

Epson Stylus Pro 9880 Does Not Print

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud
