Hi,

if you "have not" using Backup Software (e.g. Symantec Backup Exec, CA), you can try this IBM LTO-4 driver for Win2K.

IBM LTO-4 Device Driver for Windows 2000

LTO or Linear Tape Open is a magnetic tape data media that was initiated and developed by IBM, Seagate and Hewlett-Packard in order to
counter Sony’s AIT tape LTO Ultrium tape uses a single reel to maximize storage capacity and thus is better suited for archival use.
So the LTO Tapes are the best option for backup storage, because Ultrium is very popular, very compatible to all.

Some of the more popular LTO Ultrium tapes are: The 183800 and LTX100G LTO-1 tape The 183850, LTX200G and C7972A LTO-2 tape. The
183900, LTX400G and C7973A LTO-3 tape The 183906 and 26592 LTO-4 tape.

How can I connect Tandberg SLR60 device to a PC with windows XP? Device is installed but it is not listed in removable media section. There are no problems reported in device manager etc.

The SLR60 is a SCSI device. First you need to acquire a SCSI adapter, such as an Adaptec 29160 or 39160 PCI SCSI adapter. Both the adapter and the SLR60 have 68-pin connections, so you will need a cable similar to this one: http://www.cablestogo.com/product/07858/3ft-scsi-3-ultra2-lvd-se-md68-m-m-cable-thumbscrew. Once you have all of this, connect the tape device via cable to the adapter. You will need a 3rd-party backup program, such as Seagate Backup Exec or NovaBackup.

Pc Freezes when attempting to access HP SSL-1016 Ultrium 460 Tape

I have to admit this is a tough one. You seem to have tried most things i would try 1st.

I would suggest trying to download an eval coy of another backup program such as backup exec 12.5 from the symantec website and trying that.

This enables you to eliminate the backup software from your enquiries and if you also enable BUEX to use its own drivers (rather than the standard windows drivers) then that is another thing eliminated.

http://www.trilan-it.com/ are pretty good near the Berkshire area if you need a field call to help sort the issue but i would try BUEX 1st as that will help diagnose the problem even if you dont wish to continue with their software

Medium changer did not show

Check that the unit is set to random mode instead of sequential mode

(FYI Sequential mode treats the whole machine as a single big tape, while random lets the software say what tape is going to be used.)

Tandberg LTO HH (LTO-3)

The error is because the driver isn't loaded for the device. Look up how to add the device in symantec help. If windows recognizes it already then usually you can go to devices and add teh device from within symantec.

HP LTO Drive Firmware Revs For Veritas 9.1

The problem you described is not a driver problem. So long as you are using the Veritas drivers you should be good to go.
SCSI time-outs and disconnects are hardware problems.

Sometimes they can be resolved by changing the throughput settings on the SCSI controller connected to the drive. Controllers usually default to very high speeds because they are used for hard drives. Lowering the speeds to support the slower throughput of tape drives can sometimes help.

During the POST there should be a key combination you can press to access the setup for the controller and modify the throughput settings.

Aside from that you have to replace the SCSI controller or tape drive until you figure out which one is causing the problem. Maybe the SCSI card is not seated properly.

I hope this helps.
