I have a whirlpool dyer LER8648PWO
It wont start. We have checked the plug and cleaned out the back of the dryer. We have checked the thermanal fuse(sp) and it still wont work.
It just wont turn on at all.
We even checked the breaker.
What could this be? Is there a restart somewhere?
We just bought it used but it worked at the ladys house.
A couple suggestions: (1) The switch in the front may be bad. It's the switch that turns the dryer off when you open the door. (2) Make sure the door latch keeps the door shut. If it is worn and the door isn't shut tight, the switch will not let it start. Hope this helps.

make sure door is closed and then if that doesnt do it, open door and look for where the door contacts at closing you will see a little metal table that is like a ground sometimes when a dryer door is closed or slammed the tab might get pulled backwards with the opening of the door again adjust the tab again so contact with door when shut makes contact if that doesnt do it, check your breaker and see if the breaker was tripped too
Check and clean your venting from the dryer to the outside. If it is plugged it will trap the moisture in the machine. Remember heat doesn't dry the clothes without air flow to push the moisture out.
There is no reset button on any dryer. Your Roper is a Whirlpool with a different nametag. Depending on how old it is there may be 1 or 2 non resetable fuses. They are in the back behind the rear cover. They blow when there is another problem. Such as a clogged exhaust or a bad cycling thermostat. Don't do any work on it without double checking that the machine is unplugged
Hi,
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heatingthe most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glowssometimes it is still not working properly.

Sounds like the control panel may be dead. If you cannot get any lights
to come on at all on the front panel, its probably a goner. You can
check the voltage coming out of the control pc board via the schematic
inside the dryer panel. I have this same exact problem. I replaced the
control board 3 times because the panel seems fine if i plug it into an
external power supply but will not work when plugged into my dryer. I
have my jumpered and running off of a circuit breaker. I have checked every part in the entire unit. That was over 2 years ago. I still need to get a control panel and see if it fixes mine but after dropping $130 on the control board, i feel i could buy another dryer with the $200 they want for the control panel. Also this dryer seems to streak my clothes with brown or rust colored spots. The dryer is spotless inside. I even took off the rubber seal because i thought the glue is what was possibly doing it when it heated up but that didn't help either....This dryer sucks.
