Question about GE 30 in. JP385 Electric Cooktop
GE JP385 electric cooktop problem. Worked ok at breakfast then went to turn on to cook dinner and none of the four burners worked. Checked GFIs and circuit breaker in the box (even turned off/on again) and all looked ok. Removed all four heating coils and put back then Removed the left coil surface unit and replace with the grill module and nothing happens. Can't believe the four burners are wired in series but ..... Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Dan

It sounds like the burner needs to be replaced. When they burn out sometimes they short out to ground. The cooktop will have to be removed from the counter and the glass top opened. You will probably be able to see where the element is burned out. Replace it and you should be fine. If it is too expensive to fix just disconnect the wires to the burner where they attach to the control . Then you can use the remaining burners. I really don't know what a replacement burner costs. An open coil is around $30.

SOURCE: Cleaning glass cooktop surface
Yuo can try with sand paper grid #600, but you have to use it wet, Just pour some water on the top and get the sand paper wet and concentrate on the stains only, and they should come out without scratching the glass.
