Hello,

One thing Radio Shack's answering machine [model number 43-3829], is NOT, is intuitive. But I guess you know that already. ;-)

To set the date and time, perform each of the steps below in quick succession, otherwise the machine will drop you out of the process and you’ll have to start over. You have about five seconds between each step, so try and make a mad dash for the finish line (Steps 4.-5.).

Setting Date and Time on Your Answering Machine:

(To set Day…)

1. Turn the answering machine on and hold down the TIME SET/CHECK/>> button until it beeps twice.

2. Press ANNC/DAY/<< repeatedly until the correct day displays / is indicated.

(To set Hour…)

3. Press REC repeatedly until you reach/hear the correct hour.

(To set Minutes…)

4. Press >|| (PLAY) repeatedly until you hear the correct minute(s).

(To Review/Confirm...)

5. Press TIME SET/CHECK/>> once. The machine will play the time and day you entered.

Note:

To exit/cancel the time- and date-setting mode, press ON/OFF/STOP once.

Hope this helps! If you have additional questions, please let me know and I’ll do my best to help.

I am trying to record my personal greeting on my message machine with the DECT 6.0...can you please explain to me how I can record my greetings?

Which model phone do you have? For the CL82509 and related DECT 6.0, you need to set the outgoing message from the handset when the answering machine is on. (It can be turned on from the handset).

For the outgoing message: with the handset in Idle mode, press Menu/Select. Use the up (Dir) and down (CID) arrows to highlight Ans Sys Setup. Then press Menu/Select. Use the same arrow keys to select Announcement and press Menu/Select again. Press 7 to record a new announcement. At the tone, speak your message clearly then press 5 when you have ended the message. The message will play back.

This model's manual is available here: http://att.vtp-media.com/ecp/documents/product_Product/132/UserManual/5995/cl82509_manual_USA_i6.pdf . See page 15 to set the answering system outgoing message. (This is different than Voicemail. To set up Voicemail, you will need to see your telephone provider's documentation.)

Most AT&T phone manuals are available here: http://telephones.att.com/att/index.cfm/product-support/manuals/ .

I hope this helps.

I have purchased the Uniden 6.0 and would like to install my voice mail but I am directed to the DETAILED OWNER'S MANUAL which is not in the box. Is it possible for you to download the information for me?...

There are a number of Uniden DECT 6.0 phones. The user's manuals are available from the list here: http://www.uniden.com/index/manuals_results.cfm?cat=59 . Select your model and language for the appropriate PDF.

For the Uniden phone I know, you can set up the answering machine from a handset or the base unit. First turn on the answering system. On the base, press Ans On/Off. From the handset, press either the Phonebook or Redial buttons and use the menu to choose AM Operation. Then select Menu/OK. (Then find Answer On/Off choose On or Off and press Menu/OK to save.)

To set the Outgoing Message, use the handset as above but select Record OGM. (Alternatively, you can delete or hear your outgoing message.) To record the message press Menu/OK and wait for the beep before starting your message.

Next you can set the length of the message recording for incoming calls (1-4 minutes or Announce Only (no messages recorded). Choose Msg. Length from the menus.

I hope this helps.

Would like to increase number of rings before answering machine comes on.

Setting the Number of Rings (Excerpt from the Uniden Dect 1580 Phone manual

The ring time setting allows you to set the number of rings the caller hears before your answering system plays the outgoing message. You can set the ring time to answer after two, four, or six rings. If you enable the Toll Saver (TS) setting, the answering system picks up after two rings if you have new messages, and after four rings if there are
none. This way, if you make a long distance call to check your messages, you can hang up after the third ring to avoid long distance billing charges.
  1. Press Menu/Select.
  2. Select the Ans. Setup menu, and then the Ring Time submenu.
  3. Move the cursor to select a ring time (Toll Saver, 2 Times, 4 Times, or 6 Times).
  4. Press Menu/Select. You will hear a confirmation tone.

Radio shack 43-3829 answering machine

Well, your machine might be broken, or you haven't set the little switch on the unit to ANS. The switch is on the side of the machine where the cables come out. But here are the instructions from the manual:

Recording Outgoing Messages:

Your answering machine has a built-in outgoing message, "Hello, please leave a message after the tone." You can use this message or record your own.

1. Hold the ANNC/DAY/<<, and speak clearly into the microphone, no more than 10 inches away.

2. Release the ANNC/DAY/<< when you finish. Your answering machine beeps and automatically plays back your recorded message.

*Your outgoing message must be between one and 60 seconds.

*If you record your won message but wish to revert to the pre-recorded message, press DELETE during playback of your outgoing message.

Can not receive fax

Make sure the fax is set to receive automatically. The receive mode must be set to one of the following modes: Fax Only, Fax/Tel Auto Sw, or Ans Machine. If it is set for Answering Machine, be sure the machine is connected to the fax, turned on, and contains a recorded outgoing message.

Power Failure Recovery

If the system is disconnected from the AC power it will not operate. Your announcemen and messages are retained in memory during a power failure but you will need to reset the clock. See the instructions on the bottom of the unit. If the message window displays CL, you need to reset the clock. See the instruction on the bottom of the unit.
