How do I play a disc?

A regular DVD will not play on a BluRay player and a BluRay will not play on a regular DVD player. There are DVD/BluRay Combos available in both the DVD and the Player. You will need one of the correct combinations to play the DVD in question

It's not reading cd, or DVD

Check for scratches on the disk surface - these can inhibit the player from reading a disk correctly.

Some players will read olny certain type(s) of disks. This is an issue mostly for disks created on a computer, not those that are prerecorded and available for purchase or rental that contain movies and music.

As stated above, dIsks created on a home computer may not always be readable on a home player. Re-writeable and recordable types that are not listed as being compatible will not work. Check your manual to see which types are acceptable and not. DVD types are: DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW and DVD-RAM CD Types are CD-R, CD+R and CR-RW. Older home CD and DVD players generally work with "-R" types and the newer players with both "-R" & "+R" types. "-RW" and "-RAM" types are the least likely to be readable in home players.

Additionally, most players require that disks created on a home computer be "finalized". This is an extra step that isn't required by most CD / DVD drives in computers. Just because it works in your computer doesn't mean it will work in your home player. If you're using compatible media and still not able to read disks, check your CD / DVD recording software options to enable finalization.

Good luck!

Picture or sound will not come on while disc is playing

Think has other dvd players worked before on that tv. If so then has anything about the current dvd player changed such as the yellow red white cord? If so changing the old one back will help. The dvd player r/y/w jacks could be loose and the tv jacks could be loose as well which can cause a poor visual or no visual at all. If other dvd's work then its simply the dvd itself, make sure your not trying to play a blueray dvd in a regular dvd player they wont work in a normal player.

Hi. I connected my western digital HD to a DVD Player. It worked fine in the DVD player and still does but it does not work in a computer anymore. When you connect it up to a computer it seems to struggle...

I would assume the dvd player encrypted the drive so you could not copy the movies from your dvd player to your computer, so you could not burn them to prevent piracy. If you wanted to use the hard drive in your computer you will need to format the drive.
