Power off the printer, take the Magenta cartridge out, take a lint and dust-free cloth or tissue and clean the hysinc mirror and the printerhead lens. I just did it and it took me three minutes to clean with toilet paper rolled up like a cigarette.
My printer is back on line. The hysinc mirror and printerhead lens is in the printer not on the magenta cartridge. Reinstall the print cartridge and power on. This has happened to me before with a different color.

You are correct, Below is that section from the manual. Before you follow this, i've found in the past that the cable connector is not seated properly on the rip board, so check this first.
If you require any of the instructions on replacing the printhead or board let me know.
Yellow Printhead Lost Hsync
Check for the correct installation of the all the cables to the RIP
Board assembly and to the Printhead assembly; J2, J3, and J4 on
the RIP Board. Go to “RIP Board” on page 5-11. If the cables are
connected correctly to the RIP Board and to the Printhead
assembly, replace the following FRU:
“RIP Board” on page 4-11
If this does not fix the problem replace:
Yellow Printhead Assembly - Go to “Printheads” on page 4-33.
Note: Whenever a printhead assembly is replaced, it is necessary
to perform the “Printhead Adjustments” on page 4-1.

They mean the respective printheads have lost the HSynch. The first thing the we do (and have had great success with) is to clean the laser lenses. Then check the head wiring. The following codes apply:
106 & 110 CYAN
107 & 111 MAGENTA
108 & 112 YELLOW
109 & 113 BLACK
