I am having a recurring problem with my furnace.I have (at least have in the past) had good results from the service company we have used but now they are stumped. I have a newer home with a Ruud/Weatherking/Rheem furnace installed, the model number search comes up as a Weatherking however the service tech stated it was a Ruud, but the label on the outside of the furnace states it is a Rheem Corsaire series Model number 80PJ12EDR01. The Technicians notes are as follows: Found unit cycling on limited and pressure swich port closed. Cleared obstruction and checked coil and blower. Blew out coil and blower with air. Manifold pressure 2.9"u.c gas pluid yes clean flame sensor and burners. Found that air filter is too restritive on the unit replaced filter and cycled unit. Ok, so my problem is the unit cycle fine for the first 24 hours then the problem returned. Prior to calling the technician we switched out the thermostat to see if it was the problem the unit operated fine for 24 hours then the problem returned. The unit comes on for no more than 3 minutes blows warm air but shuts off prematurely will not bring the temp up past 65. The unit is 5 years old and was installed in the attic horizontally by the builder.Filters are changed regularly. Any advise you can send my way would be greatly appreciated, I have already spend $500 to try to resolve this issue. Thankyou, Joanne"

If the burners do not fully ignite, the sensor will shut the furnace down. The lack of sufficient burner flame is a gas valve or gas pressure problem within the valve.
Replacing the gas valve with the original one may get you going. I surely suggest a professional service company for safety reasons and a thorough inspection. A 20 year old furnace is past it's normal life span.

Hi,
The switch on the top is replaceable and no you do not have to open the system...the sensor is just stuck down in there in a thermal conductive compound similar to a boiler sensor in a well...
Just get the sensor, pull out the old one and insert the new one...
FYI, many of the newer scrolls do not have the sensor...I think they figured out that they are trouble and also that they are not needed...

Try blowing air thru the pilot tube. You may have a spider web in the burner tube.

Check for condensation buildup in the Induction Blower housing. The condensate tubes or canister may be blocked and causing the diaphragm switch to trip the unit out causing the burners to shut down.
