Krups XP4000 Pump Espresso Machine. It comes on and gets incredibly hot but no water ever comes through. It shakes a lot, makes a really loud noise when turned on. The tank is full and pushed in as far as it can go. The filter is empty because this is the first time I'm cleaning before use. I do not have a water filter in it as one didn't come with the package. I can't figure out if I'm doing something wrong or it's a defective unit. I bought at the holidays as a gift for my husband and we checked the items but didn't get a chance to try it out until this last weekend..but nothing will even come through on the initial cleaning so we haven't been able to even try the espresso. I'm going step by step on the instructions but can't figure this one out. Can you help? Krups XP4000 Pump Espresso Machine. It comes on and gets incredibly hot but no water ever comes through. I have just bought Krups XP4000.
About 20 minutes after I brewed an espresso, the body is still very warm to touch even though it has been switched off. Is it normal?

I have almost the same issue with an XP 4050 - noise, hot water but nothing trough the coffee - everything is on the bottom tray. I think the directional valves are stuck or... any ideas?

If it is brand new you should not be expected to figure it out, take it back to the shop. Any messing about with a brand new appliance can only harm your guarantee, let them figure it out. It sounds like the pump valves are dry or stuck.

SOURCE: I have a Krups xp2070 that sends hot water to the

The unit has two pressure valves that control release to the drip tray. Once they fail the hot water will go directly to the drip tray when the pressure goes up. The fix will be to replace the pressure valves (pair in series) which only cost about $20. I replaced mine and it fixed the problem. Good luck and happy espressos.

SOURCE: No espresso coming out.

The problem with the XP4050 is the two safety valves that the water goes trough on its way to the coffee head. They are plastic and some of the parts will just become brittle because of the hot water and the contamination they gather. With my XP4050 they just broke and parts of it were in the rubber tubes that go to the waste tank. They are also very cheaply constructed compared to the more robust parts of this machine. The water to the hot water/steam head does not have these valves and has a completely different routing. I am currently trying to fix the machine with just one valve and parts of the two valves that are still good. Fingers crossed....

Loud drilling noise when coffee switch is turned on - rather than the usual purring noise - and no coffee delivery either

How old is your machine ? and what maintenance have you done over time such as replacing the shower curtain located at the pourring end of the hot water ? I had too very loud noise coming occasionnally from the stainless steel rack holding the cup while coffee is delivered. If your ground coffee is too fine it will stop flow during making a shot. Is water coming out when no coffee is placed in the portafilter. The water pump on this machine is a cheap pump that has to be replaced over time. Mine is 7 years old and has delivered four cups of expresso everyday of the year, and still working.3841c994-fb4b-459f-8d1f-710e0aafc3c0.jpg 2ead4f70-37c6-4236-a9c2-992dba149c4c.jpg

Krups KM9008 brews SLOW or not at all

If the cold water pumps from the bottom of the unit, you may have a problem with the one-way valve. Normally, this valve opens when the water is hot enough to pump up to the coffee basket, but closes to prevent the hot water from flowing back into the reservoir. If this valve is sticking, that could produce the symptoms you describe. Without actually seeing this unit, I don't know whether the valve itself can be replaced. This may require replacing the whole machine.

My Krups XP4000 Espresso Machine has never been used. We tried to give it a try yesterday and it appears the pump doesn't work. You can hear the machine trying to do something but no water comes...

The pump is probably bone dry, you will need to put some water into it under pressure. I have a piece of hose in my workshop that fits the seal that the tank engages into, it's about 8 to 10" long. I engage the hose, fill it with water, activate the pump and seal my mouth over the hose and blow as hard as I can like I'm blowing up a balloon, it rarely fails.

No coffee is coming out of the machine...

in our machine we wanted a stronger coffee so we adjusted the auto grinder (where the coffee beans are housed) to the finest setting thinking the finer the grind the stronger the coffee...after doing this the machine wouldnot make coffee...we sent it away while still under warranty and the tech said that the grind selection was too low so they just turned the grinder back up a notch and it worked fine ....dont know if this will help but it's worth a try!

2 problems: not enough hot water, and where the rubberized tube goes

It's my opinion that the tube goes in the boiler so that when the water boils, the steam will push the water up the tube and to the brew head. Without the tube, you will just get steam through the grounds.

Good luck!
