I have a Ricoh Aficio 1013 that prints fine but copies are unclear and off

The machine prints perfectly clear pages, but when making copies through either the doc feeder or on the glass, there is a section about 1" - 1 1/2" in from the edge, all down the left side, that is 'slid' up a quarter inch or so in relation to the other lines of type.

Another post for another type of machine that I saw describes the problem better. If i copy a grid, the vertical lines will all be fine, but the horizontal lines will not all be connected.

the type is slid, slipped, crooked. and there is a slight ghosting of the first couple of letters, with the glass. through the doc feeder, it is a dark line included with the offset type.

Not sure if you saw this already, but suggestions seem to be part replacement which a repair person would charge you for.

Problem Cause Solution Colored lines appear. The exposure glass or scanning glass is dirty. Clean them. See "Maintaining Your Machine", About this Machine . Copies appear dirty. Image density is too high. Adjust the image density settings. See "Adjusting Copy Image Density", Copy and Document Server Reference . Copies appear dirty. Auto Image Density is not selected. On the control panel, select [Auto Density]. The reverse side of an original image is copied. Image density is too high. Adjust the image density settings. See "Adjusting Copy Image Density", Copy and Document Server Reference . The reverse side of an original image is copied. Auto Image Density is not selected. On the control panel, select [Auto Density]. A shadow appears on copies if you use pasted originals. Image density is too high.

  • Adjust the image density settings. See "Adjusting Copy Image Density", Copy and Document Server Reference .
  • Change the orientation of the original.
  • Put mending tape on the pasted part.
The same copy area is dirty whenever making copies. The exposure glass, scanning glass, or ADF is dirty. Clean them. See "Maintaining Your Machine", About This Machine . The same copy area is dirty whenever making copies.
  • The original that has already been printed is scanned.
  • Original Type is set to [Text / Photo], and an original with text and photographs that can hardly be distinguished from each other is loaded.
On the control panel, press [Generation Copy], and then begin copying. Copies are too light. Image density is too light. Adjust the image density settings. See "Adjusting Copy Image Density", Copy and Document Server Reference . Copies are too light. A light copy may result when you use damp or rough grain paper. Use recommended paper only and be sure its storage environment meets the recommended temperature and humidity conditions. For details about recommended paper and the proper way to store it, see "Recommended Paper Sizes and Types" and "Paper Storage", About This Machine . Parts of images are not copied. The original is not set correctly. Set originals correctly. See "Placing Originals", Copy and Document Server Reference . Parts of images are not copied. The correct paper size is not selected. Select the proper paper size. Parts of images are not copied. Even if you place originals in the ADF correctly, margin of a few millimeters on all four sides of the original might not be copied. Use "Create Margin" function to reduce the image of its original size.
For details about missing image area, see "Missing Image Area", Copy and Document Server Reference . images appear only partially. The paper is damp. Use paper that has been stored in the recommended temperature and humidity condition. For details about the proper way to store it, see "Paper Storage", About This Machine . Black lines appear. The exposure glass or scanning glass is dirty. Clean them. See "Maintaining Your Machine", About This Machine . White lines appear. The exposure glass or scanning glass is dirty. Clean them. See "Maintaining Your Machine", About This Machine . White lines appear. The dustproof glass is dirty. Clean the dustproof glass. See "Cleaning the Dustproof Glass", About This Machine . Copies are blank. The original is not set correctly. When using the exposure glass, face the originals down. When using the ADF, face them up. A moir? pattern is produced on copies. Your original has a dot pattern image or many lines. Place the original on the exposure glass at a slight angle. Black spots appear on the copy of a photographic print. Because of high humidity, the photographic print has stuck to the exposure glass. Place the print on the exposure glass in either of the following ways:
  • Place an OHP transparency on the exposure glass, and then place the print on the OHP transparency.
  • Place the print on the exposure glass, and then place two or three sheets of white paper on it. Leave the ADF open when copying.
White stripes appear on the OHP. Fragments of paper are stuck to the OHP. Use a dry cloth to wipe any paper fragments off the back of the OHP. The image on the back side of duplex copies has mottled blank patches or is smudged. Missing patches and smudges are caused by moisture leaking from the paper.
  • Do not install the machine in areas that are susceptible to low temperatures.
  • Use paper that has been stored where temperature and humidity conditions meet the limitations we recommend. For details about the paper storage conditions we recommend, see "Paper Storage", About This Machine .
  • Install the Optional anti-humidity heater. For details about the anti-humidity heater, contact your service representative.

It would be cheaper to find a 1013spf meaning scan, print, fax. Finding all of the boards, wiring harness, ROM chips and control panel buttons needed to convert your machine would be pricy. Then you would need a service tech to install everything as well. You can find the "spf" versions used for less than $1,000 and you could get around $500 for yours.

Where is exposure lamp on aficio 1013?

The exposure lamp is the lamp that lights up when you copy something which is located under the scanner glass. It is on the carriage that moves from side to side when copying from the glass.

Prints lines on copies. replaced photo conductor unit. didn't make a difference

if you already replace PCU still produce line on copy it could be fuser roller found at fusing unit. if black lines replace fuser unit or if available fuser roller much better but if white lines just clean laser unit. another problem may contribute might be deform frame of scanning section includes mirrors and alignment of lens unit this problem occur usually upon transport of the machine.

Print function is not working properly. I have a Ricoh Afcicio 1013F. It prints a few pages then has an error msg.

Does the machine copy okay? If you copy several pages, do they all come out normally, or do you get an error message like when you print?

What is the error message that shows up? If the machine prints a few pages before the error comes up, and it works fine when you are copying, the problem is likely either with your network or with the application you are trying to print from. Depending on what the error message says, it will help to isolate the problem.

It could also be the print driver itself. You can go to Ricoh-USA.com to the Downloads section and either update or reinstall the print driver if nothing else works.

Need to clear the memory of a Ricoh Aficio 1232c copier, it is printing out random copies of some kind of code, can't find manual...help.

you do not need to clear the memory print the configuration page and see which driver is supported:
it can [RPCS] or [PCL 5e] or [PCL 6e] or [PostScript]
if you are using the driver which the machine does not support she will print documents as you say some kind of codes.

Copies have black streaks now

Dirt on the narrow glass will cause streaks through the Auto feeder, but copies should be clean if using the main contact glass if that's the case. Dirt/toner anywhere else (ie:laser optics) would cause light areas on the copies- not dark. Did this happen the very first time you used it, or shortly after? In other words, could it be coincidental? It sounds more to me, like the PCU (photoconductor/drum unit) needs replacement, or a fuser roller.
If cleaning the glass doesn't help, then one of these 2 things is causing your problem.

Printer says "load paper"

if you pull the paper tray all the way out and lift the tray slightly in the front it will pull out from the machine. look inside the ope area and you will see that the switch that registers paper is probably fallen out of place. Just super glue it back in and make sure the connector is reconnected.
