Switch for cook top fan

I have a Jenn Air CP220 cook top control unit with a CM200 downdraft fan unit. The switch 71001494 fails after 3 to 4 years. It has been replaced twice and now it is no longer available. Is there a work around i.e. different switch that may need to modify the wiring harness. Is this fan unit 220 AC or variable DC unit?

My problem with the switch is the knob came off and can't get it to stay on.
Do I need new knob? It only feels like I get in on correctly occasionally. Is there a trick to align it to the switch shaft?

Any luck on finding a switch for it?

I used my grill for the first time, & the downdraft didn't work we'll, the house filled with smoke & eventually the downdraft shut off and I had to finish cooking in a pan. My Jenn-Air is...

The downdraft is electric so there must be something malfunctioning with it. It is a high volume downdraft fan that is to be vented to the outside. Could it be that something has clogged the vent hole up, not allowing the fan to evacuate the smoke?

While I am not a big fan of Jenn-Air, their fans are usually high quality if they are installed correctly, with the proper vent lines.

Both burners turn on when only one is needed

I just had the same problem- when I replaced the whole cartridge.
I repalced the infinite switch- do the one that gets the hottest- or do both.
It is easy to do- just write down the wiring diagram - make sure all power is off- cost of new switch was about $37.00
This solved the problem- however make sure to check the sizng on the new switch shaft as my old knob would not fit properly on the shaft of the new switch.
good luck

Cooktop fan switch replacement

1. Turn off the power at the breaker box.
2. lift off the air grill.
3. remove the two screws at the front of the control switch panel (escutcheon)..
4. slide the control panel forward until it disengages, then lift up to expose the switch assembly and wiring.
