Problems with torque clutch in new DeWalt tranmission

I recently replaced the transmissions in 2 DeWalt DC925 hammer drills because the torque clutches were slipping in "drill" mode. Now the torque on both drills is infinite when set on speed 1. When set on speed 2 or 3 the low end torque settings are very high(too high to be useful) and go up higher. I thought the supplier may have given me defective transmissions and got replacements which did the same thing. Then I ordered another transmission from a different supplier and it did the same thing. I checked to make sure the torque adjustment rod on the transmission is going into the hole in the adjustment collar and it does. However I must apply some pressure (as if I am compressing the torque adjustment rod) to get the transmission housing to seat against the motor housing - and this is when the torque color setting is on 1 - which makes me think this if affecting the torque settings.... Am at a loss - HELP!

No return it to a Dewalt service center for their Max Repair Rate. They will fix anything including batterys for a set amount, if it is less then you pay less. If not give me the exact model number and I will look into it.

My Dewalt DC925 works well but the torque settings don't seem to be working.when i am drilling screws the drill will just drill until i release the trigger.is this a clutch problem?. Many thanks.

Try to put it on the lowest torque and if it slips when wanted, then add a little more torque and check to make sure it slips. Continue at each torque setting and usually works again at full torque. Usually happens when left on the same torque all the time. This kind of resets it.

I have a DeWalt DC925 type 1 hammer drill, took it apart to repair switch and clean. Four pin bearings fell out,I don't see them on a parts diagram, where do they go ?

You will find them in the transmission, remove the metal cover and they will be located just under it - sounds like it is either the gear posts or the clutch cams on the nose side of the transmission DeWALT DC925 Type 1 Hammer Drill Parts

Can't engage drill or hammer settings on de walt dc 925 xrp

Try turning the ring to 2 or 3 and run the drill holding the chuck so the clutch slips then try turning it to drill setting. Also try to do it in different speed settings. If not it sounds like a fault in the gear module. It might just be a metal clip just under the clip in side. Undo the 4 screws holding the gearbox onto the housing and carefully remove it, you might see the fault or loads of dirt that needs cleaning. You can get the part replaced with metal gearing and clutch and that shouldn't happen again, but the cost may not be worth it

Drill works fine but wont engage hammer. the torque ring goes from 1 to 21 ok but i cant engage the drill or hammer setting

On my DW988 the ring would go past 21 a couple of clicks to a symbol that looks like a yellow T and that would be hammer mode when I press down to drill.

I have a dewalt dc925 combi drill the chuck keep slipping and also the setting ring is hard to adjust . What can i do top solve this?

Probably needs a new transmission. They cost about $34 plus shipping. Easy to fix. Just remove the four torx screws from the metal (gray in color) part of the drill. Then pull it apart. The transmission comes in a one piece cassette. Pull out the old transmission, insert the new one, put the front back on and tighten the screws.

Removing the chuck on a dewalt DC925 cordless drill.

I just changed the chuck on my 18 volt xrp half inch hammer drill, yes first you must remove the torx screw with #15 torx bit, note this is a left handed thread screw, knowing the bad chuck was bad I added some heat from a propane torch to the chuck then making sure it was in 1st gear i took some vise grips and the chuck is screwed on with normal right handed threads,it broke loose (was stubborn but needs a lot of torque )ahhhhhh wat a pain.

Cannot engage hammer action

the problem is the metal part of the clutch that meets the pin from the transmission. remove the 4 screw from the clutch & check if the the inside of the clutch & the trans pin meets. all you can do is to push back the metal parts of the clutch setting.
