Dear Sir/Madam : Re: ONKYO HT-SR800 7.1 ch HOME THEATER SYSTEM The system will not deliver video output in television mode . Audio is fine . Initially , I press the CBL/SAT INPUT SELECTOR BUTTON . Are there other buttons to press to activate the video output ? Thank You. Respectfully , John P. DeSalvo

    Dear Ginko ,

    Thank you for your response . I should note that there is no television as such . The image is projected on a drop down screen from an overhead projector . This is true regardless of the selected input : DVD , VCR/DVR , CBL/SAT , etc .

    Thank You .

    Respectfully ,

    Dear Sir/Madam :

    Regarding the above -referenced ONKYO HOME THEATER SYSTEM , I wish to add the following :

    The video problem persists to the present . However , the overhead projector appears to be functioning properly . It projects the word " OPTIMA " on the drop-down screen . However , when the system is tuned to a television channel , the audio is once again present , but no video . On the lower right side of the screen the following words appear : " SEARCHING FOR SOURCE " or " SOURCE CANNOT BE LOCATED . " The same is true when I insert a DVD in the DVD PLAYER . Additionally , I cannot call up the menu for the DVD PLAYER on the drop-down screen .

    Your observations will be appreciated .

    Thank You .

    Respectfully ,

    John P. DeSalvo

Try resetting the unit by holding down the VCR/DVR button and pressing the STANDBY ON button and see if that helps..

  • Anonymous Oct 10, 2008

    Check if the cables are connected to the correct cables. Your unit cannot play between formats. Also make sure that it is not set to "pure audio mode". Make sure the input selection is correct on your projector.
    You should be looking to adjust the "Output" and not "Input" selection on your theatre system, if the source is the theatre system.

    Here is a manual for your unit which should explain things more clearly:
    http://www.retrevo.com/search/v2/jsp/dow...

    Hope that helps! Please don’t forget to "Accept"
    the solution if it helped you in any way, or leads you to a fix.

This leads us to the Onkyo CS-V720's generous connectivity suite. You can hook up a power amplifier and a powered subwoofer to the receiver's preout jacks to get full 5.1-channel sound from DVDs, DVD-As, and SACDs. You also get two sets of analog audio inputs and one out, so you can simultaneously hook up a digital audio player (an iPod, for example) and another external device. A full complement of video outputs (composite, S-Video, and component) and an optical digital audio input round out the rear panel.

Check the input selector on the TV, if you have audio only then it is a cable problem,
that means that cables are not connected in the right way.

    Let me know what cables you are using to connect the receiver to the tv, if you are using RCA cables ensure that RCA video (the yellow one ) is connected in the right way at the back of the system, going to TV video input.

    I understood you are using the Onkyo HT-SR800 as a receiver, how do you connect it to the projector?
    If you use RCA cables , check the yellow one.

    Switch the source selector manually, using either the remote or the buttons on top of the projector.

Sound from Onkyo CD player well and fine. Then connected the Samsung DVD HT-Z310 to Video3 (L/R audio in, V-in from L/R Audio out and V-out of Samsung) but no sound or nor video on TV? Tried to fix it...

What am I missing here?

There are a lot of models mentioned in this post. What are WE discussing?

* A Samsung HT-Z310 is a Home Theater System.

* An Onkyo TX-DS777 is higher-end AV Receiver that DOES have a Video 3 input which accepts composite video and analog audio.

* An Onkyo CD player is irrelevant to the TV sound in any scenario.

* Unnamed TV.

I don't see any path in your narrative that would carry audio TO the TV. Is there an unmentioned HDMI cable in here somewhere? I see no other audio outputs on the HTZ.

Are you running the HT-Z310 through an Onkyo receiver to somewhere (?) else?

The fewer hops and inteconnects a given signal experiences between its source and your senses, the better. I always run the BEST video from any source to the TV first; the best Audio to the BEST audio electronics. If that helps.

I have an Onkyo Hts - 580 Theater in a box sytem. Lately I noticed no output from the front left speaker, alos no output when test tone is used. Pkease help.

you might want to switch the speakers that youre using. e.g front left put it to front right and vice versa to isolate if the speaker has the issue or the amplifier terminal.
if the left speaker works on the other terminal then its a terminal issue.
