Is this a small fan around 120mm square, if so you need to ensure that the wiring is run in from the correct wiring inlet, there is usually a small spigot the wiring has to go round too, otherwise cover catches wiring. This is general on Xpelair, Vent Axia and GET fans.

Diagram shows that you cut Y wire from thermostat, and connect each end to timer.
End coming from thermostat connects to terminal 3.
End going to contactor connects to terminal 1.

4001-00 is wiring diagram #1
There are 3 terminals 1 2 3
Black Hot wire from circuit breaker goes to terminal 1
Black wire to Load (light, fan, motor) goes to terminal 2
Whites wires connect to terminal 3

Read the manual a little more carefully!

It looks like it was a joint venture between fuji/axia and smal camera technologies, the latter of which was purchased by cypress semiconductor, then subsequently bought by sensata technologies.

The axia website is in japanese, the smal camera website doesn't exist anymore, and there is no mention of the product on the fujifilm website, the cypress website or the sensata website.
