you can not flash a CDMA(sprint,Verizon,etc) phone to a different carrier unless the carrier your flashing it to accepts foreign ESNs CricKet is the only one that I am aware of that allows this. if the ESN is not originally from that provider they will not add it to there network.

You can not flash a phone to a service provider unless they accept foreign ESN's. Virgin Mobile does not allow foreign ESN's The only provider i'm aware of that allows foreign ESN's is CricKet.

It is because in the Northeast Metro PCS uses a 10 MGHZ AWS frequency and your device does not have a AWS radio. If you return to a market were Metro uses a CDMA frequency, your service will return. That is why you were told to get a Metro phone because their devices have dual band radios. This is also why the metroflash service is not offered in the Northeast, as far as I am aware, the only other provider who uses AWS in the NY area is Cricket.
