Tilt the head back and look into the hinge from the front. There is a screw right in the middle, turn it anti clockwise a quarter of a turn at a time until the whisk stops tinging on the bowl.

How do I fix a wire prong on an egg beater attachment that has broke loose?

The wire whips are repairable but only by welding the whip back into place, that can be quite costly, and with new wire whips costing less than $20 that is the more economic solution.

Here is a link to the wire whips made by KitchenAid: Wire Whip MendingShed com Bowls Beaters Attachments

You will want to get your model number from the bottom of the mixer to ensure you get the correct wire whip. If you have trouble finding your model number in the chart be sure to contact us at Repairs Parts Kitchen Store MendingShed com & we will be happy to assit you.

I own the 6 QT Stand mixer. Is there a Is there a 4 or 5 qt bowl that works with this mixer?

Kitchenaid does not make a 4 or 5 quart bowl that would fit your 6 quart mixer, but other 3rd party companies do!
You may be in luck.
I haven't seen this bowl in person, but it apparently will fit your 6qt mixer. Here is a link to a page selling the mentioned attachment. It comes in a set, with appropriate wire-whip attachments:

When raised to do whipping my professional 550 hd mixer attachment does not scrap the bowl to mix properly

You can adjust the mixer bowl up and down slightly. If you lower your bowl and look at the back you will see a little screw, it looks like a flat head screw and it is on the "neck" of the mixer.
You can raise and lower the bowl by adjusting this cam screw. You can tell that your bowl is adjust correctly by attaching the flat beater and put a dime in the bottom of the bowl, the beater should just barely touch the dime and move it around the bottom of the bowl.

The beater will not scrape the sides of the bowl, if you are wanting the sides of the bowl scraped I would recommend the Flex Edge Beater made by KitchenAid which is basically a flat beater with a rubberized edge which will scrape the side of the bowl as it rotates.

Here is a link to the flex edge beater on our website: http://www.mendingshed.com/kfe6l.html

The wire whip hits the bow too much and makes a strong noise and ends up heating the bowl. what can I do to fix it? thanks

open the head of the mixer and there is a screw just below the area where the head is attatched to the base of the mixer. turn the screw counter-clockwise about 1 turn, try the mixer and see if it still does it. if it does then turn the screw another 1 turn etc. until the scraping stops. hope this helps :) from luke

My beater, dough hook, and wire whip all hit the bottom of the mixing bowl. I have been told that I can adjust them. Can you tell me how? Thank you

On the tilt head models there is a "Stop screw" that adjusts how far down the head goes. I just can't remember if it's in the head or base. I use the other model that lifts the bowl.

I need to lift the head a little. the wire whip

Hi LEDAVETORI, you don’t provide the model number or say if you have a ‘tilt-head’ or a ‘bowl-lift' mixer, which would helpful, but you can easily download a PDF version of your Owners Manual from the KA website at: (http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home).
Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals& Guides> and enter the 6 character model number and select a file listed under Owners Manuals and save that file to your PC. You’ll need to have Adobe Reader to be able to open it. Turn to Page 11 and you will find the instructions for adjusting the mixer head height. I have extracted the instructions below:
Beater to Bowl Clearance
Your mixer is adjusted at the factory so that the flat beater just clears the bottom of the bowl. If for any reason, the flat beater hits the bottom of the bowl or is too far away from the bowl, clearance.

Tilt-Head models
• Unplug mixer.
• Lift motor head.

• Turn screw (A) SLIGHTLY counter clockwise (left) to raise flat beater or clockwise (right) to lower flat beater.
• Make adjustment with flat beater, so it just clears surface of bowl.
If you over adjust the screw, the bowl lock lever may not lock into place.

Bowl-Lift models
• Unplug mixer.
• Place bowl lift handle in down position.

• Turn scre3e30899.jpgw (B) SLIGHTLY counter clockwise (left) to raise flat beater and clockwise (right) to lower flat beater.
•Make adjustments with flat beater, so it just clears surface of bowl.

If you find the adjustment screw missing, you’ll need to replace it. But now you’ll need
I hope this helps! –Howard, Burke, VA

I have a Sunbeam Heritage Series Mixmaster, 350 Watts, just purchased yesterday. I used it to mix cake batter, cream butter, whip egg whites....the problem is that it doesn't blend the ingredients. The...

There should be a small lever on the base in front of and below the bowl. It will move to 2 positions. It sounds like you have it set for the small bowl but are using the large bowl. Press down on the lever and move it to the other side. If I'm right, that should correct the problem.

I recently acquired a KitchenAid/Hobart Model 4C stand mixer for free. It seems to work okay but I?m in need of a flat beater, dough hook and wire whip as it came with only the juicer attachment. Do you...

A number of attachments were available for the 4C, such as a juicer, a meat grinder, etc., all of which ran off the PTO on the front of the housing.  The only beater, however, was the wire one.  No dough hook was ever made.  I have been told that the motor didn't have the necessary power to run a dough hook.

Clicking

I have the same mixer. Make sure the bowl is firmly latched into the base. also, make sure the bowl didn't get bent in shipping. If the paddle hits at a regular timed interval, it's must likely a problem with the way the bowl seats. As long as you don't hear a loud hit verses just a click, it shouldn't be a problem, just an annoyance. In time, you will probably heat tapping when you use the wire wisk. I am glad I bought mine. I hope you enjoy the difference a good mixer makes.

Head tilting problem

OK,Where the mixer pivots there is an ajustment screw ( Flat head). Place a dime at the bottom of the bowl and make your adjustment carefully ( quarter turn at a time).Using the low speed only, adjust until the tip of the flat beater barely touches the dime. When your done, you'll be back in business.
