SOURCE: Braun Syncro 7680 Electric Razor

Managed to fix it - actually was a 7680. Only do this if you:

1. have a small screwdriver set

2. are handy putting little delicate plastic pieces and springs together again

3. are prepared to face the possibility that you might break the shaver entirely

4. you are out of warranty so you don't care if you invalidate it

THE PROBLEM is caused by a small flat metal assembly that acts as a spring to hold the blue button in place. That is held by 4 small glue posts. The glue breaks down, the flat spring falls out of place and the blue button is no long in the right place.

TO OPEN UP THE SHAVER

a. gently remove the plastic cover around the electrical socket underneath, using a small flathead screwdriver to pry it open

b. the two metallic sides of the shaver can be pulled away starting at the bottom of the shaver

c. uncrew the four screws on the underside of the shaver

d. remove cutter block, battery/lcd block (make sure you don't lose the grommet around the lcd display1.gif

e. pull the spring and little plastic latch off the underside of the switch, make sure you remember how to put it back (took me almost 20 mins to figure out how to get that back afterwards)

f. slide the switch all the way up and pull it off the slide - you might need a little gentle force and a flathead screwdriver to coax it off - be careful you don't break anything here

g. remove the trimmer from the rest of the switch

h. put the blue piece back in place (mine had fallen out), then glue the flat metal spring back in place. I smeared brush-on crazy glue on the flat surfaces to hold it in place, I would imagine a four drops of reasonably strong glue on each of the glue posts would work best. Wait for the glue to dry and achieve strength.

i. slide the trimmer back into place, then the plastic latch and spring - this is the tricky part. Make sure the switch can slide on/off in all positions properly.

j. put the display/battery & cutter block back in place. put the back of the shaver on, hold the shaver together with your fingers and test the switch works in all positions without jamming. If so put the four screws back, followed by the metallic sides followed by the plastic cover of the electrical socket.

GOOD LUCK!!

SOURCE: Braun Synchro 7680 - "Oil" message

Had the same problem on my shaver too. Bought this product:
http://www.onlineshavers.com/pd_braun_8000_activator_foil_cutter_pack31.cfm

(I know the link says foil cutter, but it takes you to Braun lubricating oil!)

I apply the lubricating oil to the foil etc, then the word "oil" disappears. Then after a while the word "oil" comes back and I apply the oil again and so on, my shaver still performs normally.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: I have a Braun 7680, and the switch won't work -

Most likely, the mechanism is broken and will need replaced. The switch is part of the trimmer assembly which comes attached to the outer casing. You will find a replacement at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

How do you replace a battery on a Braun 7680 Shaver?

I replace my Bruan 7680 battery. I place the order for battery from Amazon, cutter& foil from goodmans.net. The following is my procedure 1.Using a small flat screw driver to plier the plastic socket lock (Where the charging located ) 2.Disassemble left and right plastic holder 3.Disassemble plastic cover top and bottom 4.Take out the circuit board where the battery mounted on. Please be careful at this process you could ruin the circuit board while taking the old battery out(I used a soldering and a small wood stick just to take the extra flux away from contact to other on the circuit board). It is not as difficult as I thought. 5.During your install a new battery please make sure that the batter pole does not go the same way(Check direction of a battery before taking it out so you do not put in the wrong direction) 6.Putting them back together. Note #special tool required to take out the circuit board from a mounting? My the battery replacement came with the tool)

My Braun electric shaver model 7680 has stopped functioning probably due to a dead battery ( I had it for years). A service center is asking in excess of 60 dollars to fix it. Battery and mother board...

If the shaver is completely dead and the charging lights no longer illuminate when plugged in, the circuit board will need changed. If they still illuminate when plugged in, you can just change the batteries.

You will find the batteries and also the circuit board with batteries at shaveroutlet.com. You can order which you require. See links below

There is a tip on the battery page for easier installation

shaveroutlet.com has an instructional video that shows you how to disassemble the shaver at the link below. It's the 4th video down

Where to get and how to replace the shaver switch on 7680?

The switch is part of the outer case and can be found at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

http://shaveroutlet.com/shaver-replacement-parts/braun-syncro-body-housing-select-models-p-811.html

To replace, you will need to gently pry off the cap that surrounds the cord hle on the bottom. Once removed, the side grips will pull away easily revealing 4 screws on the back. Remove screws to take the bask of case off and then lift out the 'guts'. Reassemble in reverse order
