Go to system preferences under the apple menu then to network and see if the disconnect when logging out is checked if it is uncheck it and see if that improves your connectivity. Also if you wireless router is close to something that gives out emf e.g. a television it could be interfering with the signal.

Why can't I connect my iMac to my Dlink DIR-615 wireless router?

That is a older wifi access point and maybe the N is not compatible for your imac. I would get a dual band 2.4/5Mhz wifi Access Point.

The causes of this can be varied. Try adding a $ infront of the wifi password and see what happens.e.g. $hamster123

this is a very old router and having had that router with the same issue i would replace it (first check your wireless card with another wifi to make sure it isn't the router...)

Imac AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x8C) to wifi

On the iMac choose Create Network... from the Airport menu. Then the Gateway laptop will be able to join the iMac's created network.

it might be about your adsl modem/router. some modems need firmware upgrade to use with macbook/macbook pro/imac, and iphone. firmware upgrade is not the solution sometime. you might change the modem then..
