Coby MPC951 Hi I recently changed the hard disk of Coby MPC951 since the old disk had some problems. But the new disk is just formatted and does not contain the firmware files in it. I have connected the new disk to the player but I still get the message "HDD read error" and if I connect it to the PC vis USB, the player itself is not getting recognized. How to I install the firmware in it now? I'm able to connect the hard disk to the computer separately using a ZIF connector and read the drive. My email is [email protected]

The LCD seems to have got disconnected from the mainboard. Please open it up and re connect the ribbon cable to the LCD. It happens to be press fitted. To give this connection more stability, reinforce it with cello tape. If you feel faint then seek some professional help. It is a matter of five minutes.

Think Twice Before You Put Your Old Hard Drives On Sale

A new study reveals that used Hard Disk Drives available on classifieds websites contain high-risk data
A recent analysis done by Stellar Data Recovery, one of the world's leading data recovery, data erasure and data migration solutions provider reveals that hard disk drives available on second-hand marketplace sites contain a huge amount of confidential data. As part of the study, multiple hard disks drives were purchased from India's leading online platform which facilitates buying and selling of second-hand products. For the sample collected, sensitive and high-risk data was uncovered in 100% of cases.

Most consumers in India are unaware that data can be recovered from their legacy drives and mobiles and steps like formatting are not enough for ensuring data privacy. The study further reveals that the vast majority of Indians are still unfamiliar with data sanitization methods; often referred to as data erasure methods, data wipe methods, wipe algorithms, and data wipe standards. This eye-opening study now mandates the need of consumer awareness for both individuals and business alike, about their own Data Privacy and the need to adopt proper and secure data erasure techniques before discarding legacy gadgets; this is a pre-requisite to keep cyber criminals at bay.

1. you will need to know 1st that the hard drive you are installing is compatible with the desktop.
2. Is the hard drive compatible with the new Operating system (VISTA).
3. Check to see if you have the hard drive properly inserted that is properly cabled and connected. This will render error in installation.
4. Make sure you are installing the Operating system correctly.
5. Some boot sectors become corrupt during a change in Operating system if the hard drive is not properly formatted.
6. Try formatting the hard drive again and re-installing.

Can't get movies to play

Hello!

The error "Frame size too big." means that the video's Frame Rate is higher than the supported frame rate of your COBY MPC951. To fix this, you need to convert the video to run lower frame rate. You can use any video converter in the internet.

Cheers!

No internal hard disk found

Hi there.
Use the Vista CD to create the new partition, but first you have to delete the old partition first, (the 220GB partition not the 10GB one because that will be the recovery partition).
Get a calculator and work out your new partition, for example 50GB is 50x1024MB so that will be 51200MB.
When you have deleted the 220GB partition select NEW and input your newly worked out partition and carry on from there, to activate the other partition just format it.

Please post back with the results and for anymore help if needed.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Hard disk failure

Hi, assuming the hdd won't finish a format, it is possible that some sectors are damaged. If you still want to try and use the hdd even with these defects, you can try and partition the hdd. Guesstimate at what point the hdd stops responding and really guess where the defects end. With this info, partition the hdd into 3 with the middle containing the defective sectors. Format only the first and third partitions. For simplicity, Win98 might be easier to work with rather than XP. Hope this be of some help. Do post again and let us know how things turn up.
