My Kodak Easyshare Camera saves pictures onto an SD card but when i try to load the SD card onto the computer i get an error saying the card needs formatted

I have had no issues until today. I took pictures with the camera and they saved to the card. I then put the card into my portable usb card reader and tried opening the drive and it said the card needed formatted. The photos appear on the SD card when you review in the camera. I have tried 2 different cards and 3 different computers. One of which had an internal SD reader.

have you tried connecting the camera to the PC with the USB cable instead of reading directly off of the SD card?

  • Aaron Friez Jan 06, 2012

If i had a USB Cable, that would have been my first choice instead of going through the steps i had already taken. Sadly the USB cord was lost a long time ago. Thanks to the age of the Camera and Kodak being a developer you have to direct order which would also have taken longer. Regardless, i seem to have solved my problem myself. THe camera is functioning again. I pulled the battery and let it sit for the night. Im thinking possibly faulty card caused a static charge. Anyways the new card i got would not format in the camera this morning but once i plugged it into the computer with the internal SD reader it set it up and read without a problem. Now the camera and new SD card work fine.

This was not a solution persay. I still dont know why the camera and card decided to suddenly stop functioning as they normally due. My assessment is on the old card being bad. The camera does work now however which makes this a solved issue.

SOURCE: Easyshare converted all of my jpgs to easyshare files

i'm not sure how to change the default picture program... but i can tell you that you won't lose pictures if the easyshare program is deleted. it's just an extra program to view/edit pics.... the actual pics are located in a generic folder somewhere on your computer. click properties on one of the pics in easyshare, and see where it's located. then just go to that folder through windows....

hope i helped a little, sorry i don't have the solution for the other part

SOURCE: Pictures taken can be reviewed in the camera. But,

It's a one way street...from camera to computer...not the other way around. Doing it that way will eventually corrupt the card and sometimes even the camera.

I keep getting the error msg memory card cannont be read

Your camera is only supporting: SD/MMC up to 1 Gigabyte

The card that you currently have might be high speed. All should be sorted if you change the SD card to the supported MMC SD card up to 1G. There is a lever on the SD card this one might need to be changed.

The card that you currently have might be faulty. Please try another card.
You might also need to switch the camera over to saving pictures directly onto the SD card.1: Menu, Cam settings, Chose AUTO or SD card option Press OK

Note: If the SD card isn't in the camera or is unreadable the camera will automatically go back to saving you taken pictures on the internal memory.

Kodak easyshare m360 says memory full after 3 photos i just bought the camera, what i shell do < shell i buy memory card or usb for it ?

You need to switch the camera over to saving pictures directly onto the SD card.
  • Menu
  • Cam settings
  • Chose AUTO or SD card option
  • Press OK to SD card
Note: If the SD card isn't in the camera or is unreadable the camera will automatically go back to saving you taken pictures on the internal memory.

If you experience problems:
The lever on your SD card might be turned the wrong way so the SD card is reading protective.
Please turn the lever and try again.

The SD card might not be supported by the model: Your camera Memory card support is SD/MMC up to 2 Gigabyte and SDHC up to 8 Gigabyte

The SD card might not be faulty, try another card, since the camera could give you a message like the one you're experiencing.
Try with a different SD card that is supported by the camera.

Once you have set the settings to save onto the SD card directly you might like to transferre your existing pictures from the internal memory onto the SD card:
