SOURCE: Garage door won't stay closed

Check the down limit:
If the light bulb(s) on your operator are on the front and/or back, the limit adjustment screw is on the left side of the operator (looking from the back of the operator and facing  the garage door).. If the lights are on the sides of the operator then the limit adjustment screw is on the left side (looking from the back of the operator and facing  the garage door)

Why does it go up and down on its own?

Try changing your codes. Also try banging the wall when your wall switch is located and see if that makes the door go up or down. All it takes is a loose wire or bad switch. I had another one do the the same and it was a bad element in one of the light bulbs made no sense but it fixed it.

Hi...My garage door works from the remote but not from the wall. When I hit the wall switch, the door starts to move down, but then stops and the lights goes off and on for a few seconds. Until now, it...

If when you try to close the door the main light flashes 10 times and the door reverses to the open position you have a door sensor problem. Make sure they are pointed at one another and that the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have a bad sensor.

Garage door goes up, but only travels about 12 inches and stops when it comes down

TRY HOLDING DOWN THE WALL BUTTON TO CLOSE THE DOOR.
IF IT WORKS THE PROBLEM IS IN THE SAFETY EYES.

IF THE DOOR TRUELY GOES A FOOT OR MORE AND THE ABOVE DOES NOT WORK - DISCONNECT THE DOOR FROM THE OPENER AND MAKE SURE IT WORKS SMOOTHLY - LUBE THE SPRING(S) ETC,
IF IT GOES UP AND DOWN WITHOUT TOO MUCH EFFORT ADJUST THE DOWN SENSITIVITY - NOTE: THIS IS A VERY SMALL ADJUSTMENT 1/8 TURN IS MORE THAN ENOUGH

IF YOU STILL HAVE PROBLEMS DOWNLOAD THE OWNERSMANUAL FROM LIFTMASTER.COM NAD READ THE TROUBLESHOOTING SECTION

Garage door will not go down

The only thing that will cause the main light to flash 10 times and the door to reverse to the open position is a door sensor problem. Check to make sure one of the sensors is not blinking ever so slightly. It can be hard to see. Also make sure direct sunlight is not hitting the lens. Try shading them.

My garage door wont go down.I habe to hold the switch down but if i let it go the door will go up again.

I have a Liftmaster garage door that won't go down unless you press and hold the wall button. The sensor lights are both on. The green light on the unit flashes unless I press the reset button. As soon as you press the wall button it flashes again and the door won't go down unless you hold the button the whole time. The remote wont' make it go down either. It begins to sometimes and retracts, but sometimes the light bulb just flashes (like it is obstructed). I tried replacing the wall switch and that did nothing. Help!
