Keep getting message that my firewall is turned off

On my compaq laptop via a wireless network I keep getting a message saying that the firewall is turned off but when I go and look at the security centre it is switched on. Why is this happening?

    checked the routers firewall too and it,s on too but still get message.

Have you tried Security center/Change the way windows notifies you of security settings? (un-check all three boxes)

Go to control panel

then Administrative Tools

then Services

Scroll down to Windows Firewall

Make sure the Start up Type is set to Automatic.

you said it says connected to the network but not oline.
Check the IP address on the wireless network connection.
there might be nay static IP address on the wireless connection.
If yes then set to obtain IP automatically.

My HP mini laptop will not connect to my wireless network.
check you wireless router settings if the wireless is enable on the router then , if this is done disable the firewall on your wireless laptop and if you cannot still connect to the wireless uninstalled and reinstalled your wireless driver software.

First you must sure that your wireless card is working
Second confirm your wireless setup is right.

Do you have any firewall installed on your computer?
If so, try disabling it. If it doesnt work, keep going.

does your modem have a green light on the "internet" or "activity" status? if not, you have a problem in your modem.
