I think I can help you guys needing a replacement CC-5440M12 120V/60Hz Ronning Motor. I have been cleaning out my shop and I have four (4) of these used electric motors. All work fine. They still have the plastic fan blade on one end and the metal gear on the other. I actually have electric cords wired up on each of them that I used to make sure they worked.
Thought I would pass this information on to you. Thanks and have a great day.

I had the same problem and discovered that the brushed were worn out. While in the Dremel dept at home depot I noticed that the replacement brushes for model 300 ( they also fit most other Dremel tools) were very close to the size from the motor on my compressor. For under 4 dollars it was worth a try. They are actually just slightly larger so you need to sand them down on all 4 sides, go slow and keep trying for fit. Even the springs included will work, I just stuffed the whole thing in and reattached the contact clips. The graphite is softer than the originals so you may not get as much life but for the cost, it beats buying the whole motor assy. Good Luck, Mike

Try your model number on google that is where i found my battery for my hp printer. It was nowhere to be found until i went on google.
Grainger will have match motor for you. or go to baldor motors web site and ordere it.
It sounds like the compressor is trying to start under load because there is a tightness in the pump itself or there is high pressure air in the line between the pump and tank There is a small valve that releases the pressure out of the main pipe that runs between the compressor and tank once the tank is full and the motor automatically cuts off. You know this valve is working by the sound of a short spurt if air being released when the motor cuts off. Releasing this pressure means that the motor is able to restart easily because there is no load. If the valve is not releasing this air, the compressor is trying to start under full load which the motor is not capable of doing, hence the slow running, overheating and popping of breakers due to a current overload as the motor tries to run up to normal peed. Motor burnout is possible if it keeps recurring.
This small release valve is attached to the Pressure control switch that switches the motor On & Off and usually has a small pipe going to it or is incorporated inside the Pressure Control Switch. If the valve appears to be working then it means that the Non-return valve on the input to the tank is not sealing properly and letting air back into the main pipe causing the compressor to start under load. Check both valves for correct operation and replace as necessary.
If all the air side checks out OK the check for low oil level and / or binding in the air pump main drive shaft.

Same problem: One of two Ronning Motors in a Campbell Housefeld FP2020 died. Service dealer said it wasn't worth it to replace, might cost $130.00 for new motor unit. I can replace it myself, if I can find the motor cheap enough.
Mikestem,
I have the same problem. All along i thought that Cambell hausfield was a good air compressor. I am going to try to get them to replace the motor under warenty since i have only had it for 2 weeks. I was using this compressor for an air bush. After a little use it started to making a diffrent sound then stoped all together. When i find an answer to this problem i will post it. If anyone has a motor that will fit this compressor please let me know. I have tried Grainger and baldor site but there is not enough information listed on this Ronning cc- 5440m12 motor to find a correct replacement. If there is someone that has a good sugestion please let us know.
