SOURCE: Upgrade from pentium 915 D to dual core
The pentium d 915 is a dual core processor, albeit a bad one. You should check google for info on your motherboard to see if it supports Core 2 duo's/ Core 2 quads. I have an E6600 overclocked to 3.0ghz and it still plays games perfectly paired with my 8800gt 512mb and 4gb's ram. I definately recommend upgrading to a core 2 duo. I used to have a pentium d 915 and it was bad for gaming and the e6600 blows it out of the water. You most likely wont find the e6600 anywhere as it is nearly 3 years old. Look at sites such as toms hardware to find a good core 2 duo.
Good luck- an t-adh leat!

SOURCE: how to overclock Intel Pentium Dual Core E2140
The following link will tell you the very simple way to overclock this processor. Half way down the page you will find the header "OVERCLOCKING"
http://www.value-reviews.com/index.php?page=pentium-dual-core-e2140
"Since the architecture was designed for the 1066 MHz FSB, overclocking
is as trivial as setting the FSB to 1066 MHz (266 MHz quad pumped).
...you instantly get a 2132 MHz CPU with little increase in temperature."
