Kenmore Oven Door Lock Stuck Out

We have a Kenmore oven and the lock is stuck out and won't go back in; we can't run the oven because we can't close the door. There is no error code and we don't know the model number.

Same thing - oven lock is stuck in the closed position (even though the door is open) so that we cannot close the oven door.  Please advise.

I have the same problem. The door lock sensor works because when you take a small screw driver and push in the sensor that the cam is supposed to activate. The door lock light goes out. This means that either the cam motor, or the temp. sensor is bad. The only way to test the temp sensor seems to be to manually bypass the cam and fool the oven into thinking the door lock isn't locked, and see if the oven will heat. If it heats to a specified temp then the sensor must be working. That would leave the cam motor as the only thing that needs to be replaced. All this on Christmas day so I can't even buy a motor if thats what it needs. Oh well.

We had this same problem. We found that pushing the censor button/switch on the upper left rim of the oven's inside moved the lock and made it capable to unlock, or purchase a pizza pizzaz.

I have had the same problem here is how I fixed it.

Step 1. Dis-connect power to oven.

Step 2. Make sure that oven door is completely closed. (You might have to use a hammer on the metal lock located inside the oven in the to middle when you open the door)

Step 3. Once the oven door is flush with the oven re-connect power to oven (the time and lock light should be flashing)

Step 4. reset clock and push door firmly aginst oven and press the clean buton. Once the clean button is pushed you should hear the motor of the lock at work. and the lock light should be solid not flashing.

Step 5. After about 30 sec with the cleaning going and the lock light solid press the clear button while pressing the oven door aginst the oven, you should then hear the lock motor disengage.

this worked for me I hope it works for you all too.

SOURCE: Oven lock stuck in locked

Hello there:
This is a very common issue with these appliances whenever the cleaning cycle is interrupted this normally is the result.
So what you will need to do is to first unplug the appliance from the wall outlet and leave it alone for 1 hour this allows the internal self reset feature to reset the oven.
once the hour has elapsed plug it back in and you should hear a audiable click within about 5 min or if you have a cancel button press it and you should be able to continue from there okHopethis is very helpful for you Please keep me posted ok
Best regards mike

How do I get my oven door closec on my Kenmore sself cleaning stove after i mistakenly hit clean? Now the lock is on and my door wont close and tge light stays on in the oven?

What had happen is that you activated the self cleaning system motor and it jamb up,now you have to open the back of your stove and you would see a small motor with a rod attach to it , remove the rod from the motor and push back and forth depending where it got stuck to realest the micro switch

How to put oven door back on after removing!

Although very tight (because the oven is only 1 yr old) i managed to get the hinges into the open position, then slide the door into position on the oven and close the door. The hinges did go back and lock as they should but I struggled for almost 30 mins before success.

Opened oven door before it could lock while I was

try unplugging the unit,
depending on your exact model it may just be lost in the programming becuse it sensed the door open while locking so it shuts down the lock for safety
just unplugging if for a few minutes might clear the error enough for the lock to rotate back to closed
position

Oven door stuck

To open the door, raise the oven top and use a a flat head screwdriver to open the lock manually.
The door will still lock itself when you close it, so this is only usefull to get your food out.

Jenn air oven stuck closed after attempt to activate self-cleaning

The lock motor may have failed. Most often, bending a coat hanger into a hook and sliding from the right side as you move the door to the right, will allow you to release the lock and open the door.
