Hi,
I recently had to revert to my old computer when the screen on my toshiba laptop cracked. I have a Canon PowerShot a470 and when I first connected the camera to the computer the computer automatically located the software for it but then I do not know what happened. I am not sure if the computer froze or it did not install properly or even if my computer is too old for the camera and software. I tried all of the troubleshooting tiips included with the installation cd. Autorun will not work and when I click on the setup or install files nothing happens. I also get this message: winsta.dll is linked to missing export NTDLL.DLL: RtiLeaveCriticalSection. I don't know what else I can do so I would appreciate some help.
Thanks.
Kristin
Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

first thing, you have to have the camera in playback (The way to view images on the camera) ((If the lens goes out you have i wrong))
If you have XP / Vista it will come up in my computer and you can copy and past images / videos from it that way. Else Scanner n camera wizzard in XP will pull images off

Solve your problem by using a card reader to download your pics to a folder you create on your desktop.

You need to double-click the setup file. It should have an .exe file extension.
