Running diagnostics says everything is working fine then ends with test scaN BUT DOES NOTHING I have uninstalled and re-installed software twice ( total of 3 installs) I have re-booted multiple times my printer still does Nothing when i try to scan - it prints fine I have vista 64 bit

I have Windows Vista Home Basic. I anm using 5750 scanner after downloading the following software MF5700_PrtDriverV300_Win_EN.exe &MF5700_PrtDriverV300_Win_EN from the Canon site. I am not an expert in knowing what are all these. But it just worked after downloading them and running.

Go to control panel and check the printer status, Unplug the USB cable than right click on printer icon and click on delete. Once you do that make sure printer icon should be gone. Than restart the computer. Once computer is Up than connect the USB cable of printer and make sure while doing that , the printer should be powered on. After that printer icon will again reappear in contro panel.
Try printing, it should work

Yes, either the lamp or photo sensors in the scan assembly. You need a torx driver to remove the top and back covers and check that all ribbon cables are plugged in fully, sometimes a poor connection can cause that problem.
