Can I just reinstall the device or do I have some sort of hardware problem? If I can reinstall where do I go to do that?

i think your wifi adapter is malfunction.
if you can, try to cleanup the wifi adapter and its connector. just to make sure that is no contact problem between wifi adapter and your laptop motherboard.
otherwise, i think you must change the adapter itself or buy external wifi adapter.

I went to the toshiba site and they had the same problem but it was with an adapter with a slightly diferent number on it. It was a software fix but they did not have one for my adapter. Do you think I should try to to update the driver software first?

you can try it fix it first, nothing to loose.
just make sure that the repair software have support your device.
try to read the manual first, i;m sure that it has device support list in it.

Laptop toshiba can't find my wireless router realtek rtl8187b wireless 802.11b/g 54mbps usb 2.0 network adapter

Try checking your computer's driver. Right click on Computer. Go to Device Manager. The device drivers are listed in the device manager. Drivers are used to make your computer parts communicate with the operating system. If it has a problem, then the part won't work.

Check for your wireless driver - update it. If no go, then try turning off your wireless adapter in your computer and turn it on. Check = if no go. Try going to safe mode with networking.

To go to safe mode. Do the following:

1. Restart your computer. While it's starting or booting, keep tapping F8 until you see the options to go to safe mode with networking. Use the arrow keys to highlight safe mode with networking.

2. Let your computer start in safe mode. Check if wireless is working fine.

If you want to avoid this kind of problem in the future or if you want to make sure that your computer is running well, then install Radarsync.

Hi i have realtek RTL 8187 wireless adapter, and when i watch in my antenna managing program, connection is quality and signal streght about 80% THATS GOOD. always was good connection, but now yellow and...

somebody is accessing your wireless network and getting free internet service from you unless you had setup a wep security! if you have an un-secure network then anybody with a wireless adapter can access your network and access your internet free and drag down the speed of your internet connection.
however, if you do have wep enabled and there is more than one computer connecting then this will slow your connection down as well. please remember that there are some games and gaming sites that are bandwidth hogs and will slow down other computers connection on the same network. also watching streaming videos and gaming at same time can slow down connections as well.

Wirelss adaptor doesnt find my router home network

In your router settings, try changing the protocol, from WEP to WPA/PSK or otherwise. Select one then this should restart your router. Once live see if you can find the router. Also try to set it to Open and also see if this changes anything.

Hope this helps.

This is not a problem. Wireless connections sometimes tend to be inconsistent. Try closing the distance between your laptop and the wireless network adapter.
