I can't find the software for webcam

With everyone using social networking websites like Facebook and Myspace, being able to produce a decent profile picture is becoming more of a standard expectation for computer users. You don\'t need expensive digital cameras to take a picture of yourself with your computer. You can take a snapshot of yourself for free if you have Internet access and a web cam.

if you are have trouble with your webcam.

Some webcams and programs require additional software, although that should be installed with the webcam if things are right.



But is does not harm to check if your Java, Flash and Quicktime software are installed and up to date.

But certainly check your DirectX software, since all video applications, including webcams, use DirectX for video processing.



Try downloading the latest DirectX version and install it (Windows XP: DirectX 9.0c - Windows Vista: DirectX 10).

Also during a video call at the top of your screen you will see an option to for a video call using yahoo messenger this might vary if you are using another messenger service





Open skype go to tools from the drop down list select options scroll to audio settings

you can make a free test call before you try to make a call.





Make sure the microphone is using the same as your computers audio

you can make a free test call if you cant get the microphone to work you can select learn about setting up your audio equipment.





Click start control panel sounds and audio devices audio and also voice it\'s the same make sure that you have the right default microphone selected you should be able scroll to video settings to make sure you have the right settings.





Open skype go to tools options scroll to audio settings or video settings on the right you will see webcam setting you can change the settings from there click apply after changing any settings also you can see the webcam there you can even take a snapsot also make sure your settings are correct for a video call.





Click start control panel sounds and audio devices select advanced there might be a tick in the mute box untick select audio from the microphone drop down list make sure you have the right one selected and in the volume box make sure the microphone box has a tick in it or





Select the voice tab and make sure that you have the right media selected also select volume make sure the box for microphone has a tick in it

Here are the basic steps to ENABLE your webcam.

Click on Start...Control Panel...Hardware & Sound...Device Manager...Imaging Devices...Webcam...Enable it!

Your Yahoo/Messenger IM video capabilities will work with your webcam!

install application for your cam if it is in cd / dvd comes with your cam if not then download any virtual cam
from www.manycam.com and install it to use your web cam

first check the settings on your operating system;
volume may have lowered;
uninstall all the old web cam softwares.;
in your current web cam settings select your web cams microfone and check everything of it i.e. input or output device etc.;
remove your head fones.

Most laptops from major manufacturers (HP, Compaq, Sony, Asus, Acer, Dell, Samsung, etc) that come with web cameras will usually have software to control them.
The cameras are off by default unless a program is accessing them. You can use programs like Skype or video / picture capture software or the webcam control software to access the images. You can also use websites like youtube (you need an account, but select upload video, then live web cam) to test the camera.
The web cam software can be found by searching for "cam" usually, but is often in the folder of the manufacturer's name in the start menu. This will have about all the controls there really is for the web camera. Most just come with some novelty filters to change colors or add "artistic" effects to the video / pictures.
