Hi Leslie, you will need to download the full software package, but before you do, unplug the USB cable that is connected between your printer and your computer then Go to this LINK for XP Home full software package to suit HP 1315, then

1. Click the Download only button.
2. When prompted, choose Open to start the download and run the software installer.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to start the installation process.
4. Connect the USB cable between your HP all-in-one device and your PC when directed by on-screen instructions, and turn on your HP all-in-one device.
5. Wait for additional on-screen installation instructions before using the all-in-one.

Let me know if you need more help, I'll be waiting.

Cheers

Steve

My hp scanjet 2400 stops at warming up then shows unexpected error. please help

Try connecting it on direct wall outlet. Not a surge protector or power strip

Try below solutions

An Unexpected Internal Error Has Occurred' Error Message Displays
Issue When attempting to scan, or, during the scanning process, the error message An unexpected internal error has occurred may display on the computer screen. There are three scenarios where this issue occurs. This document covers each scenario where this error may occur and provides links to the appropriate documentation for resolving each scenario. Solution one If you have multiple versions of HP Image Zone software installed on your computer, click here to download a patch that might resolve this issue . If you do not know if you have multiple versions of HP Image Zone installed, follow the instructions below.
  1. Click Start , point to Settings , and then click Control Panel .
  2. Click Add/Remove Programs .
  3. In the list of programs that displays, look for the following entries:
    • HP Image Zone
    • HP Photo and Imaging Gallery
  4. If there is more than one entry listed, then there are multiple versions of HP Image Zone software installed on the computer.
  5. Click here to download the patch. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the patch.
  6. If the issue persists, try the next solution.
Solution two Clicking Scan picture or image in the HP Director software results in an unexpected internal error or causes the computer system to stop responding. Click here to resolve this issue (c00369826). Solution three When accepting a scan from the HP Scanning preview window, the scanner may start to scan and then lock up with the lamp approximately ½ way down the scanner bed. This results in an unexpected internal error or causes the computer system to stop responding. Click here to resolve this issue (c00373192). Solution four When accepting a scan, the scanner completes the final scan and the lamp returns to the home position; however, when the image is being processed or sent to the receiving application (that is, HP Photo and Imaging Gallery), an unexpected internal error occurs. Click here to resolve this issue (c00373192). Solution five Immediately after clicking Scan Picture from the HP Director when using an HP Scanjet 3970 with v2.2 software, an unexpected internal error occurs.

I am trying to scan a picture onto my computer

1. Turn on your computer, wait for it to boot up, then turn on your printer.
2. Double click on the " HP Photo Imaging Director " icon on your desktop, it was placed there
when the printer was installed on your computer. A screen will appear which will show the
scanning options of your printer. Do not make a selection at this time.
3. Place your picture on the glass top scanning surface and lower the lid.
4. Click on " Scan Picture " from the director screen. The scanner will make one pass and allow
you to look at the result, it will then make another pass, completing your scanning operation.
5. Your picture can be viewed on HP Photo Gallery and " My Pictures " folder.
Have a Nice Day.

My scanner stopped working. hp solution center says that the device installation is not complete. i have a hp photosmart 3210 all in one. it was working the last time i used the scanner.

You probably need to uninstall and re-install the Latest Drivers for your printer

To uninstall you can do it from the Software disk you recieved with printer.
Insert the Disk in CD ROM and Click uninstall from HP Printer Menu

OR If you dont have the disk, you need to manually uninstall the Software
( Disconnect the USB cord before uninstalling )

Click START - Open Control panel - Add/remove Programs ( XP ) / Or Programs and FEatures ( Vista/Win 7 )
you will find list of HP Programs installed..

Choose one by one and uninstall these programs
1. HP Customer participation program
2. HP Imaging Device and software
3. Software and drivers for Photosmart 3200
4. HP Solution Center or HP Director
5. HP Image Zone ( or Image Zone Express / HP Photosmart Essential )
6. HP Update
7. HP Printer Drivers/Diagnostic Drivers
( after every Uninstall you will be prompted to restart the PC, you will find an option [ Click here to restart later ]. click on it and restart the PC once you completed uninstalling all the above programs )

Once you have uninstalled - click on this link to download the latest drivers by choosing your operating system

TO SCAN USING HP

I would first goto start then control panel then add remove programs. If you don't see add remove on the left there will say switch to classic view then a lot of icons will appear. Then click add remove programs find them and remove them (providing you have the installation disk or high speed internet access). Then restart your computer and reinstall the programs. Pay close attention to each window while you go through the install process. One of the windows will ask you if you want a desktop icon. Check that box and you should be good to go. After doing this goto hp updates and download the critical update: Follow these steps exactly to download the HP Director update from the HP Web Site. Some of the following steps might require you to navigate away from this Web page. Consider bookmarking or printing this page for reference. If you prefer to install the update without downloading anything, skip to the next method.
  1. Click here to go to the HP Software Download Page .
  2. In the Enter a product number text box, type your product model (for example, HP Officejet 7115), and then click Submit (c01425574.gif ) or press Enter . NOTE: If you are not sure what your product model is, look on the product itself. The model number is usually somewhere on the top or front of the product.
  3. Under Product search results , click your product model.
  4. Click Windows XP under Select your operating system .
  5. Under Update , click Critical update to resolve an issue with HP Director after installing Internet Explorer 7 . Figure 2: Example of critical update option on the HP Software Download page c01471218.gif NOTE: This update may or may not be available for your product. If it is not available, try the next method.
  6. Thoroughly review the information on the critical update page, and then follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the update. When the update finishes installing, HP Director functions normally. Here is the website http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00802504&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=&product=77375
