Retail drivers xp

http://support.gateway.com/us/en/emac/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=1537

Or is there something I'm missing by the reference - Retail?

All the drivers I pulled up are XPx86.
Means XP and 32-bit version.

What drivers do you need? Post back in a Comment.

The eMachines T2899 Desktop PC uses an FIC AU31 motherboard.
(First International Computers)
Also known as the K7M-NF18G.

This is the download link to the motherboard manual,

Click on the blue - FIC AU31 - in the left column.

I added a dvd+/-r drive to my e machine T3065. I cannot get the system to write to the drive. I can read a cd on the drive but cannot copy anything to the drive any suggestions?

Reloaded the factory restoration disk? You rock!
Haven't heard of anyone who still has their disk, for YEARS now!

I imagine the DVD burner software was probably Nero.
Nero's good. But I would like to recommend a free burner software.
One I have used for years. (When I use it, lol!)

Infra Recorder,

Home page,

Screenshots,

2) http://infrarecorder.org/images/screenshot_main.png

3) Download page,

http://infrarecorder.org/?page_id=5

You have to have DVD burner software, in order to copy with a DVD drive. (Or CD burner drive)

One more thing glancing at your problem heading you stated;

I do not see DVD-R/W, listed. It has to be a Read/Write DVD unit, in order to copy. A DVD 'Burner'.

Post back in a Comment. Also would appreciate if you would post the DVD drive manufacturer, and it's model number.

Click on FIC AU31 in blue, for the motherboard manual.

(PDF file. May take as much as 30 seconds, before the first page comes up. There is a way to save a copy to your computer. This way you can burn it to CD disk, and delete it from your computer to save harddrive space. {Once you have checked out the copy, that is)

Which one is on the manfacturers site for your computers make and model?

Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "EmachineSupport" or "Gateway Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operatingsystem when requested. Download and install the Chipset drivers. If the site shows more than one, use the one with the latest date.

Diagram of t2878

Diagram? I don't quite follow. However let me post this information to see if it qualifies as what you seek.

1) The eMachines T2878 Desktop PC uses an FIC AU31 motherboard. Also known as K7M-NF18G.
(FIC is First International Computer {Inc)

This is a link to a free motherboard manual, for the FIC AU31 motherboard,

http://www.elhvb.com/mboards/OEM/eMachines/manuals/index.html

5th file down on the left side. Click right on AU31

This is a Zip file. (A Zip file is used to send large amounts of information)
Click on the circle to the left of Save File, if there is no green dot in it.
Now click on OK.

A small window will come up on the left.
In the wording at the top of this small window, will tell you where the file will download to.

It may have Desktop, or MY Documents, or Downloads, in the wording.
You may wish to write it down.

Desktop:
The zip file will be on your desktop screen

My Documents:
Click on Start, then on My Documents

Downloads:
Click on Start, then on My Documents. DOUBLE-click on Downloads.

When you see the file name DOUBLE-click on it.
(Yellow folder icon with a zipper on it, and AU31_manual next to it)

On the far left at the top, click on Extract all files.

Now click on Next, Next, and Finish.

After you click on Finish you will see the file name next to a red Adobe PDF icon. DOUBLE-click on it.
There is the motherboard manual in PDF file form.

2) Motherboard Diagram; (Pertaining to the technology used for your eMachines T2878 computer),

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Motherboard_diagram.svg

CPU = Central Processing Unit. Another term used is Microprocessor, or simply Processor for short.

Chip and Chipset are slang terms for I.C.
Integrated Circuit,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_circuit

The Northbridge chip handles the faster capabilities of a computer.
Supports the Processor, Ram Memory, and High-speed graphics.

Note*
AGP and PCI Express are High-speed graphics.

A graphics card inserted into a PCI slot, or using Integrated Graphics, is NOT high-speed graphics.

The Southbridge chip handles the slower capabilities of a computer.
The PCI bus, IDE bus, SATA bus, USB, Ethernet, and Audio. (Sound)

3) The FIC AU31 motherboard uses an Nvidia nForce 2 motherboard chipset,

http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=AU31-WB&cat=MBB

Nvidia nForce 2 IGP for the Northbridge chip, and Nvidia nForce 2 MCP-T for the Southbridge chip.

Click on the motherboard photo to enlarge.
The white square socket at the top is the Processor socket.
(Socket A. Also known as Socket 462)

Under the Processor socket is a black Heatsink. Looks similar to a meat tenderizer. Underneath this heatsink is the Northbridge chip.
(The heatsink is glued to the Northbridge chip with a type of thermal glue)

The Southbridge chipset is under the ram memory slots. The large square chipset. (To the right of the white PCI slots, and to the left of the CMOS battery)

Specifications of the Nvidia nForce 2 chipset,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Nvidia_chipsets#nForce2

4) Basic layout of the FIC AU31 motherboard;

A) The three long white expansion slots at the bottom, are PCI slots

B) The shorter brown expansion slot above them, is a graphics expansion slot.
It is AGP, and 8X. (AGP 8X)
Uses AGP 8X graphics cards.

C) The two long Black slots to the upper right are Ram Memory slots.
Slot 1 (DIMM 1) is the slot closest to the Processor.

If you just use one ram memory module ('Stick'), it MUST be installed in Slot 1.
(Supports DDR Sdram ram memory at either 200MegaHertz, or 266MHz, or 333MHz, or 400MHz. This is PC1600, PC2100, PC2700, and PC3200, respectively)

D) The white connector socket to the immediate right of the ram memory slots, and has two rows of 10 socket holes, is a 20-pin ATX main power cable connector.

E) To the right of the 20-pin ATX main power cable connector, is the blue 40-pin IDE connector for the Harddrive.
(39-pin actually. One pins is omitted. Uses a flat ribbon cable)

F) Above the harddrive connector is a 34-pin Floppy Drive connector. It is black in color.

G) To the left of the Floppy Drive connector is the optical drive connector.
(Also 40-pin)

H) Uses a Realtek ALC650E audio chipset

I) Uses a Realtek RTL8201BL Ethernet chipset
