My husqvarna 61 inch lawn mower will not stay running

Sounds like the safety switch may have stuck. Allowing it to set, the switch "released". Just my guess.

I'd say check the oil and make sure air filter and cooling fins are clean, but I assume the shop will have done that. Has a fuel line gotten run too close to something hot? Might not show up when started and run at the shop, but would after running under load.

Take your fuel cap off, then try it.

Most likely the battery isn't holding enough charge which is why the PTO won't engage.
Likely you have air in the fuel line/fuel filter which lets it run for awhile then it fuel starves.

I can't tell you how many pieces of small equipment I have been given for free because it "just won't start" or "won't stay running". Start by draining the tank and cleaning it out - use a good carb cleaner. It only takes a grain of sand to create a problem. You may have to take the carb apart and clean that out too.

My guess would be that the crappy ethanol fuel we are forced to buy has clogged the jets in the carb. A good cleaning should fix you up.

Husqvarna uses an electronic clutch to engage the mower deck. When the clutch works itself out of adjustment it will quit working. Sometimes it will blow the 20 fuse and the tractor will continue to run, but the blade won't engage. When you then shut off the tractor it won't crank again until you replace the fuse. When you attempt to engage the blades again, the fuse will blow again.
