I want to print with only black cartidge - Canon PIXMA iP1600 Printer

It appears that one can purchase the black cartridge separately from the colour cartridges. But your Brother machine is designed to stop ALL printing operations when any of the ink cartridges are empty. In that case you would need to replace all ink cartridges that are empty in order to resume printing.

Some will, and some won't. In some older software, there used to be an option for printing in color or black, but printer companies wised up and stopped doing it a few years ago. Look to see if the software program comes up with these options when you select "print". If you don't seen the options, you can try to print with the black only, but most manufacturers require one to have have all partially filled cartridges in place. Progress isn't always more efficient or cost effective, unfortunately.

If its defective it wouldnt print or you would get an error message. If you are having quality concerns then the print head is probably clogged. Nothing you can do except replace the cartridge because it has the print head built into it.

I have KM Pagepro 1300W printer, and prints dirty pages.
I tried to print with another parts (another toner cartidges and drum cartidges). The problem comes from drum cartidge, the black toner cartidge works properly. I tried to clean the cleaner parts above the drum, but didn't work. I have 2 drum cartidges with this problem. The drums are good, I tried with another drum cartidge.
What can i do? If somebody has any ideas please share with me. Thanks

it is better to change the black cartige becaue there is the jam of the ink in black cartidge. or pick out the black cartidge and clean with soft paper in the place from where color is pour. then reinstall the cartidge. i hope it will ok. otherwise, change the cartidge.

nope, there should be no tape on the cartridge. This is preventing the ink from coming out.

you first try by cleaning the head then you can clean the cartidge contact point with printer head, if nothing seems to solve the problem then you hve to send the printer for servicing
