Unable to install Epson TM-U220B[U220 with UB-U02III usb interface] on Windows 7 AND XP!

I have recently purchased receipt printers (Epson TM-U220B[usb connection]) to use in conjunction with a POS program. I am running Windows 7 64bit HP I am unable to even print a test page (from windows) to them at the moment - the printers WILL print a Self Test page direct. Here are the steps that I have taken: -Disconnected the printer. -Uninstalled all EPSON driver software & restarted the computer. -Reinstalled EPSON Advanced Printer Driver V4.52 (APD_452E) with these configuration settings: Setup Type Minimum Printer Configuration Add EPSON TM-U220 Receipt EPSON TM-U220 Receipt[US] Create a USB port -Restarted computer (for good measure!) -Connected printer. -Windows then installs device driver automatically with the following commentary: EPSON UB-U02III - Searching Windows Update > EPSON USB Controller For TM/BA/EU Printers - Ready to use At this point the printer is shown in Devices and Printers under Unspecified with the name UB-U02III (which it looks like is the model designation for the USB adapter board on the back of the printer). The installed printer (installed via APD driver) EPSON TM-U220 Receipt printer is showing up as Not available in its status. What am I doing wrong?? The driver is downloaded directly from Epson on their product page for the U220 (https://download.epson-biz.com/modul...&pcat=5&pid=42). Incidently I get an identical result trying the above on a Windows XP machine. I hope this is concise and not to waffly! Thanks Mike

Hi!

Are you using a third party USB adapter or a USB interface? On the self test page that you printed does it say USB connection or something that will say about USB? or does it say parallel or serial connection? try to check the dip switches setting if its configured properly. visit epsonexperts.com site for more info.

SOURCE: Epson TM-T90 wont work with USB plug

I have the same problem...Epson does not work with a parallel to usb cable or adapter. If you still want to use this printer you will have to use the parallel port or change the interface on the printer to USB.

Epson UB-U03II not working

I had huge issues with my TM-U220. It does not play well with a Centronix-to-USB cable or with Windows 64-bit. I played for AGES to try and get it all to work.

I installed the USB device driver[1] I was able to print the Test Page proving that the connection between Windows and the printer sort of worked, but when I tried printing anything from Unicenta POS, it always failed.

I finally bought a new Centronix-to-USB and a new parallel port card, used Windows 32-bit, and problem solved.

They key is to uninstall everything, including searching through the Registry to delete everything.
