How to stop 80010006 error from happening

Try this.

From looking around various forums it appears to be a problem starting the game. The advice given is;
1. try again (if it's only happened once or twice, it might self-correct itself.)
2. ensure your PS3s firmware is up to date (settings > system update - on the main menu).
3. delete the game data (go to Game > game data utility and find the problem game (if it is just one) - press triangle and select delete) - NOTE this is the games' install data and not the save game so you wont lose your progress.

Alas, none of the threads seemed to end on anything definite, so if none help (and i'd try them in the order above) then it may well be a 'contact Sony' situation.

That means Corrupted folding install, try to deleting COD4 Data (under game data utility).

Seems like your Ps3 had a problem with firmware update or corrupted firmware..you have to download again the latest firmware from sony official website copy to a formated fat32 pendrive and start the ps3 recovery mode. try to format your ps3 hdd too.

hey I got the same problem for ps3, it plays everything except gta 4. The icon starts up right then i click on it and it starts to load load load and then it stops and says 80010006 error. And I got no solution to it. Do you know how to stop that error?

The 80010006 error means that an error occurred during the start operation (a corupted folding install)

To fix this issue, you have to go to Recovery Menu. Power Off your console, then hold the power button until it turns on and off again. Now, hold power button again until you hear two fast beep noises. If this doesn't work, reapeat holding the power button until it turns on and off.

You can also do a firmware update (to 3.15)

If the game U are trying to play is a PS online game, I must inform you that the PSN network is down at the moment. This is a general situation to all PS3 users, and it will be rectified soon. Hope this helped.

This usually happens when you are downloading an update and the download gets interrupted. Try to delete any God of War updates off of your Playstation HD and try again.

I would try a lens cleaning disk and see if that helps. Oftentimes if there's just a little smudge on the lens it can keep certain games from playing while others work perfectly. It's been a while since i used one bought i've bought them from Best Buy and Staples in the past.

get a new console and dont play gta iv with cheats or hacks or anything but regular and see what happens if that doesnt help then i dont really know
