I have never heard of a warm-up problem on a digital television. Unlike the old CRT TVs and monitors, digital panels don't have to warm up. I would go with the TV repair persons assessment that you've got a bad panel.

Soory man there is no deflection yoke or vertical output IC in a plasma TV set.LOL This person has a problem with whats called the substain power supply or bad caoacitors in the main supply. there is also a possibility that the set has a bad tuner. Only performing test on the set will determine the problem.

SOURCE: SONY KDL-52xbr4 - lcd panel shot after 17 months

This can be the panel itself, and or the matrix decoder/driver boards. The cost of this type of repair can approach the cost of a new set. From your description, I am thinking it is the panel itself that has failed.

Parts for your set are from Sony only because there is no third party manufacturing for these types of parts and assemblies.

Usually, when these types of sets become defective they are usually not worth servicing. During warranty the manufactures generally give a new set to the client, or they give a re-built set which has been built up using parts and modules from other sets that came back for service and had different types of problems.

If you know a tech is is good at servicing these types of set, maybe he can find a number of scrapper set of the same model to take parts from. You just have to hope the ones he finds have the same types of fault.

SOURCE: Vertical line

Hello,

Most probably the vertical deflection amplifier is failing. The most common part that fails is the vertical output transistor.
The set is too old to find documentation on part numbers and descriptions. Probably the part is no longer available and you will need the assistance of someone who can help you find an equivalent transistor that will do the job.
Of course, without testing we cannot be certain the failure is the output transistor. It could be from something else such as the voltage regulator that feeds the dc line to the vertical section. Could be the vertical synchronous level that goes too low to trigger the vertical sweep generator.

Other bad parts in vertical deflection circuit though there are not that many parts that would kill the deflection entirely.

Loss of power to vertical deflection circuits. Check for blown fusable resistors/fuses and bad connections.

Loss of vertical oscillator or vertical drive signals
Good luck.

SOURCE: different color vertical lines on screen Sony KDF-E55A20

This worked for us as well! We had lost power for a moment and when the TV came back on the power light flashed for almost a minute and then the screen came on and it was a rainbow of thin verticle lines. After holding up on the remote and pushing the power button on the TV for a moment, it reset the TV and then the LED flashed for a good 1/2 minute until the screen popped on normal! Thank you so much! You guys saved us from buying another TV!

My Vizio TV has a bar of colored lines running veritcally over the picture. Should I replace the T-Con board?

What causes vertical colored lines on a TV screen? When a TV is showing vertical colored lines, a loose wire cable in the TV might be the cause. If you knock on the back of the TV, the vertical colored lines MAY disappear temporarily. This is a sign that a cable is loose or the T-Con board is faulty.

Line across middle of screen.

The line of color is due to a failure in the vertical circuit. The main suspects are the vertical Ic AN15525A and/or capacitor c308 220uf@35volts
If you have the capacity to do so, you should check the other electrolytic capacitors in the vertical circuit which are USUALLY located near the vertical IC in most cases
you can purchase the part at
