Doorphones stopped working

I have a KX-T30810 system in my home and both door phones stopped working. I am using VA-20661 door phones that are Ok. Please helpspan.jajahWrapper { font-size:1em; color:#B11196; text-decoration:underline; } a.jajahLink { color:#000000; text-decoration:none; } span.jajahInLink:hover { background-color:#B11196; }

I don't think it's the power supply. When someone rings the doorbell and I answer it, I can hear them but they cannot hear me. There is a KX-T30860D doorphone adaptor that is common to both doorphones that could be bad. Panasonic no longer makes the KX-T30860D. Is there a substitute or can it be repaired? Also can caller ID be added to this system. Thanks

  • nmoore59 Oct 04, 2008

The KX-T30810 system was installed in 1991 and has worked fine. I have replaced both door phones in the past with no problem. I am an engineer who can follow your directions. If you can not give me a suggestion than I will take it to a qualified tech. My zip code is 23503

Hi, my name is Todd and I am a Certified Panasonic Telephone Technician.

Sorry for the plethara of incorrect answers. These guys try to be mavens, and most of the time have no clue as to what they are talking about.

First, you need to check the connection on the KX-T30860D and make sure there is solid lock on the clamp.

Then, you should be able to check the voltage on the doorphones, as power is going to them, and just may not be enough or because of a break somewhere in the wiring is not shorting out somewhere.

I will continue.

You are correct, these units are discontinued, but you can find some pretty good refurbished units out there. We pay about $199.00 for excellent quality and warranty. I am also aware of one repair facility that does a good job, for a reasonable price.

Their name is Barclay Enterprises, Inc..

For $69.00 they will repair your unit and ship it back to you pretty quickly.

  • Anonymous Oct 07, 2008

What model phone system do you have, because the KX-T30865 should be a direct replacement unit also, and it is only about $35.00.

  • Anonymous Oct 07, 2008

To clarify, those are for the door phones themselves.

  • Anonymous Oct 07, 2008

Sorry, I just reread your post and see you have the KX-T30810. There is no replacement for the KX-T30860D.

If you cannot hear the signal from any of the two doorphones, then probably it is the common adaptor.
Try posting a request here, this is probably the only place that can have some in stock.

If you cannot find the replacement, take off the module and take it to a good elechtronic repair shop, or test it yourself, if you know how to use a Multimeter.

If you know how to solder and use a multimeter, grap your tester, remove the unit, open it and start working on it.

Test the microphone contacts, see if there is continuity on the wiring, use the multimeter to test impedance on the cable.

If the mic must be replaced go to any circuit shop , buy a spare one that can fit and solder it back.

Inspect the board, see if you can spot a burnt area, test main components capacitors etc.

If you still cannot find the problem, there you will need the service manual.

There you find all the diagrams to test ICs and other parts, you can buy the service manual here.

This same job can also be done at any good electronic repair shop.

How long have you owned the units and what zip code are you located in. Your best bet is to have a qualified technician look at them. Once I have more info I can assist you further.
Thanks,

How do I get my older Panasonic hand set phone to ring on an incoming call?

The KX-TGA401C handset works with the KX-TG401x, KX-TG403X and KX-TG651x phone systems among others. If you have the appropriate base, see the suggestions below.

Does your handset read Ringer Off? Try setting the ringer volume. With the phone system in standby (no calls in or out for any handset), press Menu. Navigate using the Up/Down arrows to Initial Settings. Press Menu/OK. Navigate to Ringer Settings and press OK. Press OK again to enter the Ringer Volume sub-menu. Use the Up/Down arrows to set the ringer volume and press OK to save. Press Off to exit the menu system.

The other possibility is that the handset is not registered to the base. Note: only 6 handsets can be registered to the base. If you previously registered 6 handsets, you need to deregister some of them.
To register the handset, hold the handset near the base since you will need to press buttons on both. Press Menu on the handset and navigate to and enter Initial Settings. Navigate to Registration and press OK. Navigate to HS Registration and press OK. On the base, press and hold the Locator button for 5 seconds and the registration tone sounds. Press OK on the handset you are trying to register. If all the registered handsets start ringing, you triggered the Locate handset function. Press the Locator button again. Then do the press and hold step again. Only press OK on the handset when you hear the registration tone.

You can find the manual for the KX-TG4011 here: https://shop.panasonic.com/support-only/KX-TG4011N.html . The direct link to the manual is https://ftp.panasonic.com/telephone/om/kx-tg4011_mul_om.pdf . See page 21 for the directions to set the ringer volume.

I hope this helps.

Can't turn ringer on cordless panasonic KX-TGA402C phone. How do i turn it on?

KX-TGA402C is the included handset for a Panasonic cordless phone system like the KX-TG4011C. You should be able to adjust the ringer volume from the Initial Settings menu. With the phone system in standby, press Menu on one handset. Use the Up/Down arrows to locate the Initial Settings. Press OK. Then select Ringer settings and press OK. Select Ringer Volume and press OK. Use the Up/Down arrows to set the desired Ringer volume and press OK to save. Press Exit to leave the menu system. Alternatively, you can adjust the ringer volume by pressing the Volume Up/Down buttons while the phone is ringing.

The manual for the KX-TG4011 is available from Panasonic here: ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/telephone/om/kx-tg4011_mul_om.pdf . If the above steps aren't working, check that your handset and phone base are properly paired (registered handset). Also check that the base has power and connected to a working phone line. Also make sure that the handset is fully charged.

I hope this helps.

Hi,How do I change the answer machine message?

The KX-TGA711 handset can be added to the KX-TGA7160 or KX-TGA7180 system. First, make sure that the answer system is ON. (Use the button on the base or the first few steps below.) For those base units, press the Menu/OK button on the handset. Use the Up/Down arrows to navigate to Answer System. Press the right arrow to enter the sub-menu. If the system is off, turn it on. (Answer On/Answer Off will be displayed on one line. Press the right arrow to access the item.) To record a new greeting, navigate to the line 'Record Greeting' and press the right arrow. Hold the handset about 20 cm away and speak clearly into the microphone. Press Menu/OK to stop recording. Press the Hangup/End to exit and save. A faster access route would be to press 7 and then 6 after accessing the answer system menu. The directions are on page 25 of the manual, which is available from Panasonic and here: http://www.home-phones.co.uk/assets/uploaded/documents/473_7160.pdf . You can do this as a remote operation if you have enabled the feature. Press 7 to record and 9 to stop recording.

I hope this helps.

I have a Panasonic Model KX-T7030 hybrid system phone. Can't find a battery replacement slot - is there any and if - where to find it?

There isn't on on the phone. However, certain Panasonic models of phone systems have batteries that go bad from time to time. Most noticeably the ones that were KX-T30810/61610/123210/11.
Sinse the phone can work on one of about 18 different Panasonic key systems, you'd need to be a bit more specific as to why you think you need a battery.

Incoming call rings one time and disconnects

Unplug all phones but one in jack 11 at the cabinet and have someone call in. If it doesn't work, you probably have a bad cabinet. If not, I'm guessing one of your extensions is faulty.

Answering system

It first sounds as if the handset isn't charged properly. Check the battery status first. The manufacture advises to charge the system for approx. 7 hours before any use occurs. Second, make sure that the registration took, when programming the phone originally. I would de-register the handset by: 1 {MENU} i {0}{0}{2} 2 {3}{3}{5} i {OK} 3 Select the handset you want to cancel by pressing the desired handset number ({1} ? {4}). Then re-register by: 1 Handset: {MENU} i {0}{0}{1} 2 Base unit: KX-TG6021/KX-TG6022/ KX-TG6023 Press and hold {LOCATOR} until the IN USE indicator flashes. KX-TG6051/KX-TG6052/ KX-TG6053/KX-TG6054 Press and hold {LOCATOR/ INTERCOM} until the IN USE indicator flashes. LAfter the IN USE indicator starts flashing, the rest of the procedure must be completed within 1 minute. 3 Handset: Press {OK}, then wait until a beep sounds. 4 {OFF} Third, make sure that the display on the handset does not show "SP-Phone" in the display, if it does press the phone icon button. Fourth, Do you currently have voicemail from your phone service provider? If so, the answering machine will not answer. Make sure that the answering machine portion is turned on. Do this by: Press {ANSWER ON} to turn on/off the answering system. When the answering system is turned on, the ANSWER ON indicator lights. When the answering system is turned off, the ANSWER ON indicator turns off. If there are any further questions or comments, please post here. Please rate this solution through fix-it. Thank you
