use this simple test see the video.the led coming with the r.control must be light to the digital camera. If the LED is not lighting. Open the remote control, and clean, replace battery, and resolder any cold solder in the r. control. clean the contacts battery. God bless you
all tv sets with keyboards (controls) on the front or side use micro switches which the buttons engage--these are momentary switches=only supposed to work when pressed--they go bad in exactly the way you have described--cheap and after being pressed too hard will not disengage.
The way to prove this (by the way the switches have priority over the remote so it will not work if one is bad) is either access the vol up control and disable (unsolder the two pins) or test the switches with a ohm meter----
If the remote receiver is on same board as buttons/switches you are going to have to unsolder the offending vol button--if it is not you can usually disconnect the control board and set will again work with the remote.
either test/unsolder or have a shop do it.
If set works fine with vol disconnected just use the remote as you would likely have to replace the keyboard to correct it.
If you have the meter and are familiar with reading resistance let me know and I will tell you what to look for.
The Sony RM-ED008 remote is opened by prising the case apart, starting in the centre of the short end that does not have the little LED. Other remotes may be held together with one, two or three screws. Don't over-tighten these screws on reassembly - they only screw into plastic.
If your remote is broken because of something spilt on it, it can usually be repaired by careful disassembly, washing in warm water, leaving until thoroughly dry and reassembling.
Remember when replacing the batteries that the spring terminal in the remote always goes to the -ve terminal of the battery and the remote's flat connector goes to the +ve end of the battery. The little dimple sticking out of one end of the battery is the +ve terminal. If the battery terminals are corroded you must clean them carefully before replacing the batteries.
You cannot see the light from the little LED at the end of the remote when a button is pushed, but your phone camera can. Point the remote at the phone and view as if taking a photograph. Press a button on the remote and you will see the light flash on the phone viewfinder screen if the remote is working ok.
If the remote has been in use for a long time then some moisture and dust has accumulated in the contacts.
Try this simple remedy:
Take out the batteries from the remote. Keep it in the open for sometime - not directly under the sunlight. Let it get dried up.
Blow some air inside.
Wait for some more time.
Replace the batteries.
If it still does not work I am afraid you have to replace the remote
the remotes do sometimes die off especially when mishandled or when dipped inside water it shorts thus making it defective.this sometimes becomes difficult to repair and under such case replace with a new remote.
also it might have just lost communication with the microprocessor. try to restore the factory settings by opening the cover of the remote to access the factory settings button which is normally hidden and press it with the battery on.
Hi,
To confirmed if the remote control is working fine, aim the remote control sensor(IR emitter) directly to your cellphone camera. While pressing any button key on the remote control, you can see the flash of an infrared emitted by the remote control if it is working fine.
If you've confirmed that the remote control emitted an infrared but still the tv won't communicate with it, this is an indication of faulty IR sensor board of the TV. Check if there's an obstruction from the IR receiver in front. Keep away all of it, clean the plastic window of the IR receiver with soft clean cloth.
If the symptoms still persist, you have to replace the IR sensor board. Check the actual part no. of the board before ordering.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!

To confirm if the remote control is working or not, aim the infrared emitter of the remote control directly to your cellphone camera, while pressing any button key you will see the flash of the infrared if the remote is in good condition. Click this LINK for more info.
If there's no flash of an infrared, the remote control is already faulty.
• Replaced the battery to ensure that the symptoms is not caused by low charged.
• Take it apart and check for bad solder joints especially on the battery terminal and on the infrared emitter.
• Ensure that there's no blockage on the infrared receiver in front of the TV.
If you've confirmed that the remote control is already faulty, click this LINK for the replacement.

It will work without the remote, but can ve very unconfortable. If you have a webcam or digital camera or cell phone with camera, then point it to the small lamp in front of the remote and press any button. If the light blinks or keeps on, then the problem may be on the radio receptor. If light is dark, then take it to an electronics store an ask for an INFRARED LED DIODE replacement. This should work well.
Try cleaning the remote, the button "5" could be jammed (disassemble the remote, clean the rubber pad(s) with buttons, circuit board AND housing, especially the holes through which the buttons protrude, there may be some stuff keeping the button sticked/jammed).
This shutting on and off~On Durabrand TV`S. If your Tv Turns Off after about 1-11/2 minutes after turning it on then you need to replace your batteries in your remote control with BRAND NEW BATTERIES or it will keep doing it. It is a real pain in the behind especially if you dont have brand new batteries handy!
