Very difficult to say, but....
First, I would remove the belt, check for obstructions, and see if you can manually rotate the motor. If the motor seems to turn with no problems, does the motor spin with the belt removed? If the motor will not turn, you may need to replace the motor or the starter capacitor.
Things seem to run fine until it is time for the motor to spin, so it is probably not a defective switch in the door or similar.
I usually take a quick look for something obvious and then call the repair person :-(
Note that anytime you mess with electricity, bad things can happen (you know, death, etc....). I assume that you know how to stay safe and that things like capacitors may have a charge even when the unit is not plugged in.

Based off what you have described your Frigidaire washer motor will hum and not start. In order to test each component you would need to have the proper electrical equipment. I would recommend contacting a professional technician for proper repairs. They will have the necessary equipment needed to complete your repair. Hopefully this is helpful. -Matt

my washing machine a matag proforma series i can turn it on to start a load and it does nothing u can hear the moter hum but does nothing else its a year and a half old
