The LCD Screen remains very dark when the camera is put on to take photos or to view photos, as the screen is very dark you can't see what you are taking a picture off or view the photos taken. With great difficulty you can just about see something but it is not as it should be. I also noticed that some pictures when taken were very hazy, dark purple like and lines appeared in the photos. Does anyone know the solution to this issue please.

Your camera must be experiencing these symptoms due to a faulty CCD, and not due to other problems. If the problem is due to your dropping the camera, you might be out of luck.
If you have not dropped your camera and still facing this problem, then contact service people to replace the CCD imager in your camera .
