You can also use Google Cloud Print. That's what I've been using - I have an old Dell laptop that the printer is hooked up to and installed Google Cloud Print (Classic Printer) and now I can print from my phone, any computer, any tablet, etc to my HP Laserjet 3100!!
You can connect the printer on Wireless to the iPad using third party Apps from Apple store.
For IOS 4, you can use native apple app "Airprint" to print directly through wireless.
