The intermittent hammering sound began just after removal of the old filter but was not relieved when I installed the new filter. I have verified that the filter is installed correctly. The hammering sound like a check valve lifting and reseating but does not affect the production of ice or cold water.
The new valve may not be so new. Anti-hammer water valves have around for decades, so if you replaced your old valve with a new one that hammers, take it back and request a anti-hammer valve. For some reason, hammer valves have made a return, get rid of it before it breaks a water line.

SOURCE: no water is going onto the ice maker (Maytag Model # MZD2766gew)
the water solenoid valve is normally triggered by the ice maker itself. as it turn to harvest the ice, it should trigger the water solenoid valve to start another cycle of ice making. its either a wire harness problem that's why power is not getting to the valve or the triggering switch of the ice maker not sending power to the solenoid. i hope i was able to help you guys...
SOURCE: I Purchased a used fridge
24 hours is usually enough for a fridge to come down to temperature. The ice maker may not be working properly thanks to lack of use. The solenoid valve may be plugged with something or broken inside. If the fridge is working okay and the only problem is the water delivery to the ice maker, then it's most likely just a plugged water system for the ice machine.
SOURCE: Ice maker issues - what to do next?
I have not found Kenmore to do the best with the icemakers; however, you want to make sure that the lever on the side was replaced properly. They have a slot that they need to go into. The other thing that is important is to see if the motor is running on the ice maker. It could be at fault, but if that is the case those units usually are better off replaced as a whole, which runs around $200. You will probably get them cheaper through an appliance dealor rather than going through Sears and there probably is one in your yellow page section of your phone book...hope this helps.
SOURCE: when water is flowing to door dispenser or ice
Sounds like your water has been off for maintenance. This will make a sound like this but the rest of the faucets would have done it also when you first ran water through them the first time. So if you have a filter on your fridge, remove it and re prime before putting back on. If not, look at the back, bottom where the water supply connects to the back. Have some one try to get water in the door while you hold your hand on the valve where the water supply connects. See if it vibrates and makes the noise. Also follow the line and see if you have two different water valves. If so do the same with it. One should be making the noise if your filter does not have air in it. Good luck.
