Craftman weedacker I own a sears weedwacker, model 358.791030, and the pull cord broke. I need to know how to remove the assembly-clutch cover.

You will have to take the trimmer apart go to Parts tree Repair Clinic they will have a video

Either contact Sears or Google the model number for a service manual.

hello sir, ryobi trimmers and other models removal of the bell housing,removal of the metal bell housing,or clutch drum, on models 780R & 790R, here is what you do. after removing the trimmer & shaft assembly.remove the spark plug insert a screwdriver in the cylinder to keep piston from moveing. to remove the bell housing twist off the spring and using a T20 TORX screwdriver unscrew the retaining screw in the center of the bell housing (normal r/h thread) . push down firmely try not to strip screw head . you should be able to remove clutch housing.remove clutch using a pair of channel locks,works for me, (normal r/h thread) you should be able to remove front engine cover to repair what you need to.coil,pull stsrt, hope this works,. this solution applies to all trimmers with clutch removal~~~hope this helps,,any comments welcome,thank you. 11

I can get you part way there. Remove the spark plug and shove some clean rope in the cylinder to prevent the engine rotating. Take the front housing off to access the clutch assembly, pull off the black plastic cover from the shaft end, and use a torx wrench to loosen the screw in the end of the shaft. After it's loose, the clutch drum will come right off. Unfortunately, I am stuck now trying to get the rest of the clutch assembly off without damaging it.

Remove the tube that holds the flex drive from the end of the crankshaft. Lossen and remove the front cover. Remove the throttle cable from the carb. Remove the kill switch wire from the coil module. Remove clutch housing. Remove clutch, Remove flywheel. The recoil unit mates with the bottom of the flywheel and all the aforementioned parts are on the front side of the engine's crankshaft. Once you get the recoil unit off, you remove the old cord and turn the unit several times to "preload" tension on it. Insert the new cord into the guide holes and tie knots to lock it in place. The pull handle must be attatched too or when you let the recoil draw in the new rope, it will keep going and all tension will be lost. Reassemble all the above and good luck

Good luck on finding a manual. You can get the exploded parts drawing off of the sears parts website! I have a 32cc model 358.791580 and the pull rope broke. The pull rope assembly is located inside of the motor housing. I am having trouble removing the clutch assembly since there is no key way or screw holding it to the shaft. Does anyone know if it is threaded on?

there is a breaker built into the switch had a few of these over the years were the switch just melted you mine as well take the handle appart and check the switch just be sure to unplug it as you already know lol replacement switchs available at searsparts.com

You can either go to sears, or craftsman website or even easier if you can get one off of ebay

The thing to do is remove the cover and watch the limit switch assembly. You should be able to see how it is supposed to work and determine what is wrong. A small gear on the end of the shaft turns the limit switch assembly to make contact and turn off the motor in each direction. Something may be broken or out of place. There is also a possibility your logic board is bad especially if you have had electrical storms recently.
