When I try to turn on the power, all I get are these clicking sounds about 3 - 4 seconds apart. This goes on forever now. In the beginning, it makes these clicking sounds for about a minute and then turns on. Then, the delay got longer and longer and now it won't turn on at all. I tried looking in the back to find any obvious signs of a blown capacitor, but I don't see any faults. I don't have any test equipment to check... plus, I'm afraid of tinkering with it too much. I'm not a TV expert. Is this fixable on my own or do I have to take to an expert. Checking online, there are easy fixes for earlier models of the Samsung TV line, but this 8000 series seems complex. Help?

I had the same exact problem.
I removed the bulb and cleaned it. There is a small screen at the top of the bulb and it was covered with dust. Once it was cleaned I replaced the bulb and it solved the problem.
Thanks to those who posted the solutions

My 42" plasma is making a clicking sound, then it switches off and keeps clicking but not switching back on, when it does go back on it stays on for just a few moments, it is only 14months old.

Sounds like a shorted component in the power supply or the high voltage circuit.
Time to call a professional.

This sounds to me like one of two possibilities. First, check your ballast. If you're going through bulbs faster than you think you ought to be, you may have a ballast that is overloading. Its the 3" x 8" circuit board that connects directly to the bulb. They are plentiful and often cheap. Thats what I'd try first. If that doesnt' do it, I would invest in a new power supply board. That the board that the tv power cable hooks directly in to. This should give you a start, Comment back if you still need further help. Good luck.

You either have a cold solder joint in your horizontal deflection circuits or your or in your horizontal output circuit. please be careful due to the fly-back transformer still holds power even unplugged until you discharge it.( ground it out). Hope this helps.
