Heating element keeps going out how can I get it to stop?

Our dryer is only 5 years old and we have had to replace the heating element 4 times. Why? Once we replace it everything is fine for 6-12 months.

SOURCE: Replacing Heater Element in Roper Dryer

before you replace the heater most common cause of heating failure is burn out of the thermal cut-out. (also called thermal fuse, overtemp cutout and probably half a dozen other names) These are a small screw on device on the exhaust duct, when exhaust air reaches too high a temperature, like a blockage, they fail before a fire.
examin the exhaust duct inside the dryer for devices that look like this 641e982.jpg or like this dd7fd44.jpg with wires connected to the terminals. there may be 2(hi lo), test with a ohmmeter -conductivity good, no conductivity replace.
there are only a few different kinds the local parts guy will have them all. take the dud one for him to match.

All you need to do is check the element for continuity with an ohm meter, if it has continuity the element is good. The dryer also will run on 110 volts of power but it needs 220 volts too run the element, so check and make sure all the conections on your cord are secure and that you have 220 at your wall outlet.

SOURCE: Frigidaire Gas Dryer not heating up. Other elements are all ok.

It sounds like your igniter is no good. At all costs, check the Fuse before anything else. It is usually accessed from the back of the unit.

GE dryer dwsr463eg7ww timer isn't working and doesnt heat up

The heating element assembly warms the air before the air enters the dryer drum. If the dryer won't stop, it may be because the heating element assembly isn't working - which greatly increases the drying time. Check the heating element for continuity. http://www.repairclinic.com/RepairHelp/How-To-Fix-A-Dryer/7-3-850356-/GE-Dryer-won-t-stop-DWSR463EG7WW

How to change the Heating Element in a Kenmore Elite Electric Dryer?

If the dryer is running but not heating, then the heating element needs to be replaced. The procedure is as follows:--- 1) First of all unplug the dryer from wall outlet.
2) Remove the front service panel of the dryer.
3) After the front service panel is removed. You will see the heating element wires and heat shield.
4) Remove the heat shield by plucking the wires out from the heat shield.
5) Also remove the screws holding the heating element.
6) The heating will have to be moved a bit to come out easily. Before removing the heating element out. Please note down the position of old heating element. So while placing the new heating element you don’t face any problem.
7) Replace the element with a new element.
8) Refit all the parts removed while removing the old heating element properly.
These will help. Thanks.

Our Whirlpool Senseon Dryer stopped heating. It's

I had the same problem. I replaced the thermistor, heating element and another part and still didn't correct problem. i finally had a friend come check it and believe it or not it was the 30 amp fuse in my fuse panel of the house.Come to find out the dryer will run and everything works like it should on 1/2 of the 220 plug but the other half runs the heating element. Both fuses must be good. I replaced the 30 amp round fuse and it works and heats perfect. I hope this helps you and saves you some time and money.

Not heating and no manual. Need amnual

If drum turns and no heat.
If unit is electric, look for:

1. Safety tripped or malfunctioned at heater elements.

2. Burnt out element. Wire has come loose or burnt off due to loose connection.

3. Clogged or restricted exhaust. This causes a safety to activate and stops the heating process.

4.Timer malfunction and needs replaced.

5. Improper voltage to unit. Reset breaker and verify proper voltage to unit. (Usually between 208 to 240 volts depending where you are located and the manufacturer of the unit.

Please keep in mind that in many cases, it is cheaper to buy a new unit that it is to repair the exsisting one. Do you homework on this. I've gotten real good dryers at about $200 from places like Lowes.

Hope this helps and let me know how things work out.
