Hi. I have a Bose Companion 3 with 2.1 speakers. It worked like a charm until the control pod stopped working. Do you know where I can buy just the control pod for less than $165. (cost of a new one at Bose)? Or do you have a suggestion for fixing the pod? or where I could send it to be fixes. Thanks
Try changing the plug on the control pod, those plugs are fairly weak and prone to breakage. Does there appear to be any strain at all on the plug itself? if so then that is where I would start. If you have a series 2 then I can help you, or if you can find out if the 2 control pods are the same, that would be fine too, but I have a series 2 system companion 3 and if needed I will cut my cable to trace the wiring and then replace your plug for you. my cost for this would be $40, that includes return shipping with priority mail.
Look at the control pod connection jack. The coonection pins may have been bent when you plug it in the wrong way.Straight them out and it will work again.
Hi there my email is ([email protected]) my stupid control pod is stuck on mute, it randomly got stuck on green and was blasting static, so I unplugged it and waited the next day to see that its now stuck on mute, ive tried unplugging everything and its still stuck on mute, is there any other way to get sound without this stupid pod? or is there any way to fix this pod without having to contact bose and wait weeks
guy, pls help, the connection pins are missing two pins in a total of 12pins and i think this as greatly affected the sound of music when i use my Bose companion 3 series II

My Companion 3 control pod also stopped working (just before a party - great!). It wasn't the jack plug as all the equipment was static at the time. It sounded like a problem with a processor - the sound started to stop and start, with the intervals between playing and stopping getting longer and longer, before the unit stopped working altogether.
At least I think it's the touchpad causing the problem as the standby stop/start touchpad doesn't function correctly now either. It works about every tenth touch. However, I am also concerned that it might be a "motherboard" problem too - or is there any processing in the control pod itself?
I guess I need to contact Bose to replace this, but wondered if there is anyone who has had a similar problem. If it is an issue in the internal 'acoustimass' system, then I'd rather save my money and buy a new unit.
Thanks!
