Bose Control Pod won't work

Hi. I have a Bose Companion 3 with 2.1 speakers. It worked like a charm until the control pod stopped working. Do you know where I can buy just the control pod for less than $165. (cost of a new one at Bose)? Or do you have a suggestion for fixing the pod? or where I could send it to be fixes. Thanks

    My Companion 3 control pod also stopped working (just before a party - great!). It wasn't the jack plug as all the equipment was static at the time. It sounded like a problem with a processor - the sound started to stop and start, with the intervals between playing and stopping getting longer and longer, before the unit stopped working altogether.

    At least I think it's the touchpad causing the problem as the standby stop/start touchpad doesn't function correctly now either. It works about every tenth touch. However, I am also concerned that it might be a "motherboard" problem too - or is there any processing in the control pod itself?

    I guess I need to contact Bose to replace this, but wondered if there is anyone who has had a similar problem. If it is an issue in the internal 'acoustimass' system, then I'd rather save my money and buy a new unit.

    Thanks!

Try changing the plug on the control pod, those plugs are fairly weak and prone to breakage. Does there appear to be any strain at all on the plug itself? if so then that is where I would start. If you have a series 2 then I can help you, or if you can find out if the 2 control pods are the same, that would be fine too, but I have a series 2 system companion 3 and if needed I will cut my cable to trace the wiring and then replace your plug for you. my cost for this would be $40, that includes return shipping with priority mail.

Look at the control pod connection jack. The coonection pins may have been bent when you plug it in the wrong way.Straight them out and it will work again.

My bose pod is not working

hi, First, unplug the power directly at the back of the woofer while the unit was on;

Next, I was instructed to unplug the control pod, visually inspect for any damage/defect;

Finally, re-seat the control pod on the back of the woofer and then lastly plug the power cable back into the woofer.

It worked like a charm. I hope this is helpful!

Anyway to use Bose companion 3 system without the control pod?

had the same issue. Trial and error - I tried shorting every pair in the control pod dock with a paper clip. Turns out it is totally possible to bypass. You need two: top row, right side to third row, one from the right (below it by two spaces), and second row (there are only two in the second row, connect them). One tells it to turn on, the other passes audio through. I'm only getting sound from the right channel, so probably need to connect one more pair...

Control Pod for Bose Companion 5 speaker system

I had the same problem right out of the gate, the volume dial on my control pod for my Companion 5 wasn't working, however, the touch pad and LED worked. I called Bose customer service and was instructed to:

First, unplug the power directly at the back of the woofer while the unit was on;

Next, I was instructed to unplug the control pod, visually inspect for any damage/defect;

Finally, re-seat the control pod on the back of the woofer and then lastly plug the power cable back into the woofer.

It worked like a charm. I hope this is helpful!

Companion 3 problem

It is not the pod that isn't working, a 220v power supply would overload the circuitry in the subwoofer. And since the damage is done, a step down converter would be no help at this point. I would take it to a electronic repair shop and have them take a look at it.
