open it and try to reach the laser see if it have 2 pot. or 1 and regulate it 1 or 2 milimeters to the rigth see if it reads again, if not or if does not have any pot then try to clean the laser lens with ear cotton and alcohol very carefully to see if it works if dont new laser.
It could be several problems. One is a bad contact between lens and camera body, clean the contacts , check for damage and try another lens if you have one. Try another memory card. Another problem could be with the shutter which would need the camera to be repaired by canon.
get your engie analized for a short in your electrical system. whatever fuses are popping you have a short or an overload in that area . adding boosters to your radio or new higher wattage stereo systems are common to this problem if so check for a higher output alternator.
